Fightmetric didnt score this as a knockdown

Im not sure but doesn't your back need to touch the ground to call it a knockdown?

Staying on your feet is not a knockdown. What is hard to understand?

There's no defined rule in MMA as far as I know because KDs aren't an explicit part of the scoring criteria.

In boxing, it would have been a KD because he was held up by the cage (ropes).

I also noticed that they only credited Adesanya with four KDs, when he clearly knocked Gastelum down five times in the fight, so I wouldn't take any of this seriously.

But at what point in boxing does it count as a KD? When the back hits the floor or the hands or what is the exact definition?

Again, going by boxing rules (because there's no definition in MMA), if your knee or glove touches the canvas or you're knocked into the ropes and held up by them after getting punched, then it's a KD.

That's the boxing rule. UFC stats/Fightmetric isaretotally inconsistent with how they score KDs (and TDs for that matter too).

You can be held up by the ropes in boxing, but it still would of been a knockdown in boxing becuase Israel hand hits the floor

Lol they really need to make a clear definition of what a knockdown is. Is it when you fall to a knee or a hand on the mat or what?

Those "same people" aren't Fightmetric, so I don't know who you're raging at.

Seriously, what the fuck do Khabib and Conor have to do with this? Is there some kind of crossover between Khabib fans/Conor haters and Adesanya fans that I'm unaware of?

Why do you guys have to insert McGregor into every fucking thread?
It was the same situation. By definition I guess their ass must literally hit the canvas. If the fence wasn't there it definately would have, but it saved him from that. I'm not gonna bring any Irish names in because u are correct on the rest of it and at least 1 has enough damned threads

No, you can't. If the ropes are the only thing holding a fighter up, then it's a KD.

That interpretation of the rule is often what people confuse with the standing 8 count, which was abolished from pro boxing 20 years ago.

Well he was rocked but he recovered instantly

Hard to tell if he actually would have fallen or not.

This is definitely a knock down though

Israel himself said he would have went down if not for the cage, but his mind was clear.

That's not true, you can't use the ropes to stay up but if the ropes are the only thing holding you up then it's not a knockdown

Pretty sure the ropes saved Conor from a knockdown against Floyd

Either way, Israel's hand hit the mat

If the cage wasn't there he'd be on his ass. The cage was there though so...

I saw him fall backwards into it. Used his legs to get back to standing.

lots of double legs would get scored if the cage wasn't there. we don't count them as takedowns lol

No you can't, literally in the Lomachenko fight two days ago, the ropes were the only thing keeping Crolla up and it was called a knockdown and they gave him the 10 second count.

I'm gonna say it's right not to call that a knockdown simply because at no point would you be able to freeze Adesanya's position would a kick to the head be illegal. So he was never a down'd opponent!

because it wasn't... his knee didn't touch the mat

Because he held himself up on the cage. His hand is actually on the ground. lol

Isreal said he got dropped so would believe my eyes and him over stat counters.
