Mike Perry calls out actor

Perry probably realized it was going nowhere. Nobody anywhere would ever allow this actor to be in an actual fight with Perry.
I stand corrected. Mike Perry wants an MMA fight. This is the weakest of all weak sauces. When will MMA fighters learn this? If you’re so big and bad Mike Perry, call him out to a boxing/kickboxing match.

Edit: Actually he just says “pro fight.” What do you glean from this?

I'm not sure Perry even knows what he's challenging. Let's be honest...Perry isn't exactly a rocket scientist.

Lol Honestly I’m thinking maybe he made it intentionally ambiguous. Man this look gets worse and worse.

Honestly though, I'm really doubtful that even if Perry wanted to kickbox MJW that they'd get it sanctioned. Whatever his martial arts background, MJW is a 52 year old actor with zero actual combat sports experience. And whatever Perry's flaws, he's a fighter with a ton of experience in the top org for MMA and has wins over top 10 ranked guys like Paul Felder. I really can't see any US athletic commission allowing a full contact fight of any sort between these two.

Perry would fuck him up badly then drop a debatably dope 16 over the body setting up the twood/perry hiphop tour

You’re probably right about sanctioning because there’s no money in it. I was on record saying Conor would never get sanctioned against Floyd because I didn’t take into account the commission’s greed.

Yep. And they at least had the rationale that Conor had been a competitor in high level combat sports multiple times in their jurisdiction. It was thin in terms of justification, but it was SOMETHING anyway. With this...they wouldn't even have that.

If you haven’t seen this, be honest...somebody tells you Nam Phan is gonna fight some 50+ year old Vietnamese guy who only knows kung fu and isn’t even wearing gloves. Would you think it would be over in the first round? Nam isn’t a brainless brawler like Perry either. Nam is a smart fighter and this old guy lasted and gave him problems. The old guy can’t even put everything into his punches being gloveless and his kicks are straight garbage. @mkess101 I’m not calling you out, I appreciate the discussion. But this is why I feel the way I do about Perry vs MJW in a standup fight. When I first saw this video I assumed Nam was gonna push this guys shit in within a round. It didn’t work out that way though.

Timestamped to the Bruce buffer intro.

My money would be on the old guy to beat MJW.

Alarming how many people here think MJW would stand a snowballs chance in hell.

Size matters if there's only a minor gap in skill. Perry has spent years upon years training grappling while MJW has spent zero time on TDD that we know of.

WTF is with you guys? It's like you jumped in a time machine and think we are back when magical king fu guys were invincible and Frank Dux was the baddest man of all time. Unreal.
And you guys automatically think an mma fighter can win all street fights. You sound like those guys in the 80s who thought boxers would beat up everybody and some guy wearing pajamas wouldnt be able to touch them. Think about how many guys thought a boxer could beat a judo or a jiu jitsu guy back then who “trained some hugging crap”.

I respect anyone who trains, anything can be useful if applied correctly.

You want to whip our dicks out and compare too? Fuck off with that keyboard warrior shit. I've absolutely trained and fought more than you and it's completely irrelevant to this discussion. You'll need to try another tactic.

Well...okay. If you've actually had any fighting experience (I have no reason not to believe you) then I'm pretty stunned that you don't grasp the giant gap there is with grappling when it comes to a UFC caliber fighter (even one with below average grappling by UFC standards) and a 52 year old actor with no actual fight experience that we know of.

I had one MMA fight, that's it. So if you actually did fight you may have done so more than I did. And for me was 10+ years ago. But I still know that someone with the MMA experience and level of competition that Perry has would almost surely ruin someone like MJW in any situation where grappling was allowed. If you think otherwise that would lead me to doubt that you did in fact train and fight under MMA rules.

A "street fight" to me means zero rules including weapons and anything close that you can use to your advantage. I'm thinking more along the lines of an arranged fight under some sort of rules. Where quite frankly yes, I'd HEAVILY favor the trained fighter with tons of actual fight experience over someone that has none that we know of.

His BJJ rank is up in the air but the guy trained Japanese jiu jitsu from like 5-7 years old

All due respect to Perry, hes a blue belt at best lol. Id take MJW grappling here all day

It's a respectable stance.

Not much to argue with from me

I still think MJW would beat the shit out of him tho lol.

What do you know about Kyokushin Karate? If you think MJW would be fucked in a striking match against Perry....you might want to look into it. I’m not even talking about the techniques of the discipline. I’m talking about the way they compete. It ain’t two dude wearing pillows on their hands and feet.
honestly, not much, but i can see there is very few Kyokushin Karate fighters in mma,or even k1,what leads me to believe that it is not as effective as boxing, muay thai and the more used martial arts.i took a look at it now,and i see good striking ofense but really really poor defense, and i guess you cant punch the face?so..its definetely not a good habit to have
