Francis Ngannou Vs Shane Carwin

1. Jones could’ve EASILY gone D-1 but didn’t meet academic requirements. He wanted to go to a powerhouse program like Iowa.

2. Colby used the same JUCO program to go to a legit D1 program and become an All American

3. Blaydes is fighting in the WEAKEST HW division in the history of the sport and still can’t cut it as even a title contender.

He can't cut it because he keeps losing to Francis lol. He's destroyed everyone else. He's easily the 4th best guy in the division.

He later earned a full wrestling scholarship to Northern Illinois University, where, despite going 19-2 as a redshirt freshman, later transferred to Harper College. At Harper, Blaydes won the NJCAA National Championship as a redshirt sophomore

Carwin via dirty boxing. He's strong enough to keep him clinched up and compact enough to be effective on the inside.

Carwin was fun to watch back in the day but his skills were limited to a powerful 1-2. Not to mention he wouldn’t make it past USADA.

why do you think a "legit d2 background" is better than a juco national championship as a soph after transferring after a 19-2 freshman season in d-1 (blaydes)?

he only had 14 fights and fought 1 legit striker in his career and got battered.

Nice Wiki quote lol, I’m not gonna bother schooling you on NCAA wrestling and how it works.

People use JUCO to go D1, not the other way around LOL.

Blaydes was in one of the WEAKEST D1 MAC conferences in the country and still didn’t do anything significant, he transferred to JUCO, lol what a joke.

i asked you to compare it to d2. not d1.

lol at didn't do anything significant....as a freshman.

Lol no one cares one bit about amateur credentials, they don't mean a thing in MMA

You probably thought Koscheck and Hughes were going to ragdoll the uncredentialed Canadian all over the mat lmao

He's just a parody of himself at this point. He used to be a half decent poster. Just went full tard for some reason.

Read my rely to @kflo

This is the problem with you casuals, you don’t bother actually INFORMING yourselves and just spew quotes making you look even more ignorant lol.

I bet you couldn’t even name a legit D1 conference without looking up.

No wonder you don’t know what you’re talking about, you probably never seen a Carwin fight, just used fight finder

Carwin retiring early is probably the best thing that ever happened to him on here. Let's him keep this mystique as this monster instead of a guy who only beat Mir and Gonzaga and then got choked out by Brock and destroyed by JDS to send him packing.

Lol Carwin's chin is massively overrated, and so are his skills

Dude got stanky legged by Gonzaga before Gabriel ran in like a retard and got faceplanted. Ngannou ate 10X harder shots from Stipe and never even wobbled.

Carwin is slow as molasses and had a 2 minute gas tank, as opposed to Ngannou's 5 minutes.

>Freshman

Again your ignorance is showing... this is what happens when you solely read Wikipedia

He was a REDSHIRT Freshman not a true freshman.. i.e. a 20something year old wrestling 18 year old kids

Dude what’s going on with Sherdog...

Very open fight, Maybe Ngannou blitz him super early, maybe Carwin takes him down and destroy with gnp. Who knows. Cool to watch.

Shane Carwin:

-Won a D2 Championship

-100% Finishing rate

-Retired 14-2

-Fought for a title

-WON a UFC Belt

-Didn’t lose to Black Beast

He would be like 20-10 right now if he never retired.

Mediocre who started hot and got exposed and then quit.

Carwin is a particularly bad style match for Nganou. He was fast for a big man, had powerful TDs, enough boxing to stay in the fight, and a damned impressive chin.

I would still pick Nganou in a fantasy match up, but Carwin could very easily snag a TD and pound him out.

Pretty much my view on it. As they always say, anything can happen at HW and that's especially true when you have guys with this much fucking power. That said, my gut edges me ever so slightly toward Franky.

Ngannou's boxing technique is absolutely non-existent.

Except Ngannou has never shown good boxing

This isn't entirely true. He's shown flashes of technically sound(ish) boxing, he's just not consistent about it and often lapses into Haymaker Mode. His KO of Reem showed a lot more technique than that hilarious flailing against Rozen the other night.

Whether he would just go straight to haymakers or be able to survive a boxing exchange with Carwin is up for debate, of course.

he only wrestled 18 year olds?

he wrestled as a true freshman, winning his first tournament in d-1 going 4-0 in the fall of 2009 (he won hs state title in 2009) .

he took a redshirt year.....because he failed out. his freshman year.

Defensively Carwin was VERY limited as I think the JDS fight showed but I wouldn't rule out him landing in an Ngannou bulrush although I think his most likely way to victory would be via takedown and GnP TKO.
