Francis Ngannou Vs Shane Carwin

Which is which

Ngannou could easy catch him with speed but Ngannou really is reckless.

Both Overeem and Rozenstruik were landing their own shots as Ngannou landed his finishing blow.

If either of them landed a little cleaner he could have been the one to go out instead. The fight really would be a coin flip.

Ngannou's got the reach and the speed advantages, but he's reckless. Carwin relied on tight, simple combinations and his ability to deliver tremendous power through very short punches. He also had a iron-cast chin and the wrestling to press and hold guys against the cage, where his power at close range was a big advantage.

60/40 for Carwin.

You guys forgetting how shitty Carwin looked in his first few fights in the UFC.

Carwin has a legit D2 background and one of the hardest chins in the sports history. Never was finished by strikes in his entire career.

Probably one of the hardest hitters too

One of the worst match ups for Ngannou

Blade was beaten twice carwin would be disposed of quicker... much quicker

The real fight is Francis v Brock

both get loaded off on gurneys due to exhaustion somewhere in the second round.

first round would have been fireworks though.

Carwin gassed far worst and just let Lesnar submit him with minimal resistance, while Ngannou took his five round beating and was still looking to end the fight.
When was he looking to end the fight, when he was like a turtle on his back in rd4 or last round where he did nothing?
He was only looking to end that nightmare that was happening to him.

Is there any testing in this hypothetical match? Carwin hasn’t fought since USADA and he was implicated in a steroid scandal.

Francis by being a lot faster. Vicious 1st KO because Carwin will probably trade and get blitzed

He survived until the final horn when Stipe's previous three titles fights ended by first round KO.

JDS was never a great technical boxer. He had an overhand right and a decent uppercut. That's it.

He didn't suddenly lose his technique these days. He lost his reflexes and chin to make up for his technical mistakes.

He was good enough, for MMA, that when he was champ you had the usual nonsense on this site and from him about him taking on Klitschko.

That's because Stipe avoided getting in exchanges with Ngannou to avoid the power. That doesn't necessarily prove anything about his chin, as much as it's a by-product of a strategy aimed at taking away his main strengths.

If Shane can survive the first round onslaught...

Who wins in a 5 round match?
Shane survive?
Shane has more first round knockouts than Francis.
Shane hits harder than Francis.
Shane's ko ratio is more than Francis.
Francis will not survive.
Carwin by being the stronger between two fighters who are just strong nothing else.
Oh and by actually having a wrestling backgound just in case.

He didn’t face too many quality opponents and was only really touched by jds who dominated him.

That’s silly. Francis resume has far surpassed Carwins in terms of quality dominant wins and has showed dominant power.

lol at winning by being stronger as if that’s the deciding factor.

what else does francis have?
who has francis beaten other than blaydes that matters in this descusion?
JDS's corpse?
Cane spraining his ankle while shooting in?
overeem's corpse?

If the Francis that showed up against lewis shows up against Carwin, it's lights out for teh afro frenchy.

I think Carwins striking might just be the most overrated skill set in MMA history.

I mean yes the man hit like a truck but technically he was VERY basic, he was clowned by JDS and was losing the standup to Neil fucking Wain and had to take him down, heck even in his most hyped win vs Gonzaga he was rocked badly inside 20 secs and basically won when Gabe went in for the kill recklessly.

I mean technically Ngannou certainly isnt untouchable, yeah theres some chance Carwin can catch him but I would heavily favour Francis in a striking contest. That said of course if Carwin gets him down I think he'd have a good shot at TKOing him as well.

Better wins than carwin by a lot.

the Lewis fight was one fight that had no activity. Not sure how you use that fight as evidence.
