Recent fights/results/news from Thailand

i personally think that yamin is distracted with the long layoff and wanting to spend more time at home with his young family, but again, this is just my opinion. i think it was @Mickf who made a very good point a while back about the shutdown: a lot of these guys' lives revolve around the cycle of training and fighting...the time off gave them time to pursue other interests and think about life outside of muay.
also out of necessity for quite a few as a large amount of the fighters are relied upon to support their families, so have had to look at other ways to earn money as there has been none coming in. There has supposed to have been a fund from Sports Authority to give boxers, trainers etc... some money, but 3 months in its still not been released.

Thanks for the info gentlemen this was a nice unexpected piece of Muay Thai drama.

the trend of breaking big- falling off the rails is a constant of Muay Thai imo. it’s ingrained into the sport even before the pandemic. Makes sense that the long layoff will give some fighters a new look on life.

Don't know the details of this spat with Boat petchyindee. But i always thought he was one of the better promoters out there. Understands the old way of doing things but also is a bit more progressive and undertsands the modern world like social media etc to promote fighters and fights.

the price tag on yamin is 650,000฿, pk bought him for 500,000฿

am hearing more and more about his knee pain (which is pretty severe) in the last few days.
I like to run half marathons and have had tendonitis in my right knee before. It is pretty painful. Only way to make it better is to not run at all for six weeks. I tried to run just 3k before that time and it flared up. Even when you go back you should ease into it. Tendinitis is a realitvely minor injury though.
Im guessing Yamin could have something like an acl tear which won't heal on its own.
Pk saenchai gym just probably need the money at the moment with no money coming in.

If PK need the money, there is no hope for the rest of us :p

I think the closest we've gotten to an international Thai vs international Thai match-up was Yodsanklai vs Khem, and it was awesome. It basically restarted Yodsanklai's career as he was fading out before that, came into that fight trim and jacked.

We also had Saenchai vs Singdam at Yokkao and Sittichai vs Superbon at Kunlun among others.

chef boontham announces his retirement as a promoter at rajadamnern. will now focus on his online muay thai promotion.

Boat and Chief Boontham announced their retirement from Raja?! Do you think it's for financial reasons?

Must be something up. Raja seemed to be doing so much better than lumpini the last few years since lumpini moved. Had the best cards and gates. Anyone here any rumours?

boat is going to host a press conference at his gym tomorrow. if i had to guess, it probably started with the way things were handled during the pandemic, some behind the scenes disagreements with the older promoters and then all that drama last week finally forced his hand. might have something with CP getting into the game as well.

Will these guys just flock from Raja to Lumpinee or is there some major changes going on?

boat was forced out as there were some issues (mainly rent related as the stadium was closed to the public due to covid) and finger-pointing between boat and the stadium management. some of these disagreements were made public by boat on facebook during his fb live video chats (which drew the ire of the latter and escalated from there). doesn't seem like he has ill feelings towards rajadamnern and will help out if needed in the future.

winai naksin, promoter of wankingthong, thanked the stadium for the opportunity and states his reason for leaving is because he and petchyindee are like family, and will go with boat. sumet sueksattangkot (wanmitchai promotion) already has an online program that will start on july 9th. chef boontham also has an online program and that will be his primary focus (in the boxing world at least)

rajadamnern has scheduled a press conference on friday at 2pm local time to address a list of items (and a lot of snacks)
106039448_621854751784786_3623521664294719407_n.jpg

13:30 - 14:00 snack/refreshments
14:00 - 14:30 opening remarks; stadium reopening and clarify and address latest incident
14:30 - 15:00 open the floor for q & a
15:00 - 15:30 snack/refreshments at your leisure

lumpinee will remain closed for the foreseeable future until the ownership deal is finalized; we already seen the true4u friday shows move to world siam stadium. i am expecting other promotions to follow. also note that renovations at rangsit has completed and is now available as well for events.

meanwhile, rajadamnern posted pictures of their clean up yesterday in anticipation of an eventual reopening.
