I see no scenario where Usman can beat Burns. I have not felt this confident about a title fight in a long time.

If Usman takes him down, he will be submitted. Gilbert is way too dangerous on the mat for Usman to do what he did to Tyron with. If he stands with him, he will get hurt. Gilbert clearly is much better with his hands, and much better in the clinch.

I literally see no path to victory for Usman here. The man is done for.

Anyone see what path to victory Usman has here? Burns seems like the worst match up possible for him in the division.

I think we will see a lot of fence work by Usman. I think that would be his best bet. He can hope to tire Gilbert and then he will have an easier time on the feet with him when they strike.

I suppose that is his best bet.

But Gilbert doesn't seem to have suspect cardio or anything like that.

I think Usman will be in big trouble in the striking exchanges when they are both fresh.

Well Gilbert has a history of slowing down in the third but his cardio looked good against Woodley. Burns did manage to control the pace of the fight with Woodley though - and Woodley let him do that after he got dropped.

I like Burns in the fight against Usman but I still need a bit more time to make my pick. Usman looked hittable against Colby. Burns will knock him out if he can get the same opportunities to land.

I feel like Gilbert hype is running out of control, I wouldn't be surprised if Usman RDA's him, his striking doesn't look impressive to me, it just looks 'good', I don't even give him an edge over Usman. Usman should be able to hold Gilbert down if he's on top on the ground, I wouldn't recommend playing that game, but it's not game over soon as it hits the mat, even Maia doesn't finish people every time even when he takes the back, Gilbert is being overestimated, but I realize I could be wrong.

Usman is a way safer bet and more consistent winner though, but this is the kind of fight where betting for anything probably doesn't pay off

This is a tough fight for both guys. I don’t see a domination from either side but if someone does end up getting destroyed, i will be very impressed with whoever is the hammer.

I would also like to point out to you TS, submitting someone from your back is very hard to do at this level. Last time it happened in a title fight was Pettis/Bendo.

It's way easier to learn sub defense than sub offense. I have a feeling the people who say shit like "Burns will easily submit Usman off his back" don't know shit about bjj.

Even if Gilbert doesn't get a submission, the threat that he offers should be enough to keep Usman from trying to grind him on the mat for 5 rounds like he did to Woodley.

You really think Usman has better striking than Gilbert? I strongly disagree with that, Usman's striking is pretty shit.

Gilbert doesn't necessarily have to submit him immediately, the submission threat alone should be enough to make Usman doubt his own ability to wrestle him for 5 rounds.

Not sure about that, my opinion changed about him, he showed grit against Colby Covidton..

Gilbert can destry Usman easly. And he cann be destroyed too by Usman. We see what hapends when Usman hits them ... This is tough to call fight.

It's a lot easier for your cardio to last when you're dominating the fight. Usmans gas tank was really tested against Colby and he managed to get the finish late in the fight. He is definitely hittable though. It's a toss up for me, either Burns dominates with striking or Usman dominates with wrestling.

I'm not saying Usman isn't tough, I am saying Gilbert is several levels above him in every aspect of the game other than wrestling.
