Hit the range today. Was gonna take pics but I suck. Tag alongs were the wife and a female friend who had shot like twice and didn't know what she shot. So I figured the CZ Kadet .22lr pistol, GSG-5, CZ 452 .22lr, and the .22lr AR15 would keep them entrained for cheap.
Also took the CZ P10c, Colt 1911 9mm for handguns. The neverending 6.8 build as the only real rifle. The recently acquired Benelli M3 and another shotgun that I needed to make sure functioned.
Most exciting for me was some new target stands to hang up some gongs. I'll cut to the spoiler on this one. Like a dipshit I left behind a few of the legs and didn't get to use all the targets (i.e. gongs hanging from a 2x4). No biggie. We had smaller steel for handguns and then switched out the gong-rack and move it back for rifles.
It was rough with pistols. lol. Shouldn't have used the smallest gongs. We all needed to get used to the sights and it sucks when you're missing more than hitting. Live and learn. Interestingly enough, chicks don't dig the .22lr. It's a nice start, but once they feel that 9mm the other shit seems like traing-wheels. Astute.
The shotguns test-functioned fine. I'm just not a fan of the platform. Time to divest. Ladies had no interest in 12ga.
For rifles, it was a mixed bag.
The CZ 452 is bolt-action and has a scope. The GSG-5 is semi and has irons. And the AR has a red dot (even checked the battery last night). Figured that was a nice assortment for the newbie to get a taste.
The 452 was way off on the scope, even though it was previously sighted in and then sat there. Weird, but whatever. After re-dialing in, the scope comes loose. By loose I mean off. Wtf. Screw it back down, dial it in again, let the ladies do some manual bolt work. Perfect. There was delight early, pinging (the larger steel) at 50 yards so effortlessly. Of course after that it was a little too easy.
The GSG-5 ain't been shot in years. Same gongs at 50. Worked well. Not flawlessly, because when you mix and match .22lr with semi-autos that's been my experience. Fun gun that deserves to be dialed in more than I've done.
The 6.8 (re)build functioned flawlessly without adjustment. The (4x) ACOG was spot on out to 100. 30 rounds to make sure it worked, and only that many because me and newbie hit everything we aimed at. Part of me wants to put the Vortex PST gen 2 1-6 on there, but damn. Between the barrel and the ACOG it just doesn't miss. Questions becomes if I want to try to get precision with it or just call it a 200 yard man stopper.
