EDIT: to clear some assumptions up:

I picked Khamzat to win. I though GM3 was nothing more than a mid level gatekeeper into the top 30.
I had no money on anyone.

I am half onboard the hype train.

Wtf was Gerald doing? He backed himself to the fence, had his hands down, wasn't throwing, and wasn't moving?

I don't get it. He is a pro fighter. He know how to fight. That is not how to fight anyone.

Either it was a fix.

Or Gerald was scared shitless.

Either way, we learnt absolutely nothing about Khamzat today. I wanted this to be an elongated fight, so I could learn whether to jump on board the hype train or not.
What I got was no information about ANY of Khamzats skills.
We know he can punch hard, but TBH a 90 year old granny could have KO'd Gerald with how he was moving.
I hope Khamzats next fight actually goes for more than 15 seconds, cause currently I have no idea whether he is any good.

We know he beat 2 shit opponents, but he did it super impressively.
We know he has power, and that he killed Gerald, but it doesn't tell us anything about how good he is.

So Sherbros, can you tell me wtf Gerald was doing?

I’m on a same boat as you TS. I’m going to watch Gerald’s few fights before to make final assessment. That was really weird.

Getting his ass beat by a superior fighter

Fixed fights don't occur when the guy gets knocked out cold. This isnt Japan.
There’s been plenty of fixed fights with a legitimate knock out in combat history. Don’t think this is one of them though. Chimaev appears to be the real deal.

Okay, I'm not one to call fix. I have never called a fix before in my life.

I honestly will never understand why people hype GM3 up. The guy is garbage, and always has been.

waiting for the takedown, gerald got mad at the black belt comments thursday, he didnt want to get outgrappled by a blue belt, but he forgot that khamzat is a legit good striker and got KOed.

( not even mentioning all the feints khamzat did, the perfect cage cutting and the body shot which probably hurt gerald too )

What is weird about it? He got his chin cracked being overly defensive against a guy with superior grappling. Turns out his stand up is also superior.

Sounds like no one just wants to give Khamzat credit for the way he setup that right hand with his subtle footwork and pressure which lead to GM3 getting KTFO.

Gerald did nothing wrong but just got beaten by a a better fighter.

He was expecting Chimaev to dive at his feet so he was circling and creating distance. He had not idea borz got hands. He was expecting some khabib chimpanzee

Bro , I wanna see these 90 year old KO throwing grannies you speak of.
Lmao, meet my grandmother. She would beat the shit out of half the 135 roster.

Seriously though, I mean the way Gerald was moving and positioning his hands and doing no head movement. Anyone could have caught him right on the button with a punch, he was a stationary non defensive target.

Not saying Chimaev isn't impressive, but I don't think this is a good example of how goo he is.

I think he was being wary of the takedown early in the round. Trying to be cautious but it’s just really poor defence on the feet. You can say Khamzat caught him with his speed but anything thrown would have caught him there.

Mate, come on.

I agree, chimaev did set it up nicely. I thought his right hand was doing some nice feints.

But still, doesn't mean that Gerald wasn't a sitting duck. He did everything you shouldn't do.
I give Chimaev a lot of credit for his previous victories, but not for this one. He barely did anything. Sure, he was pressuring nicely, but lets not pretend he is a super human with the ability to snakecharm. His opponent fucking up was responsible for the majority of the KO.

yes they do. if you really think fighters are scared to eat a clean shot or two and be KOd for money you are crazy
