Jon Jones as delusion as ever seems to not realize that the UFC does not need him. Negotiations are all about leverage and Jones has none. Obviously, there's no love lost between the UFC and Jones, he was nothing but a headache while he was champ. Suspension, drug bust, arrest, repeat.

The UFC was happy with DC as champ at 205. Good ol reliable company man. But since Jones has won the title from DC, nothing had changed, it was the exact same pattern. Suspension, drug bust, arrest.

Jon Jones is the cow that's been milked. He might have one good squeeze left in him (Jones vs Ngannou) but the UFC is fine if that match never takes place.

Ngannou who the the potential to be a superstar in the sport and has many viable contenders to keep himself occupied for the next two years
- Lewis is the next most logical match up
- Stipe Trilogy is always possible
- Gane which is his old undefeated training partner
- Volkov

Francis does not need the Jones fight and neither does Blachowicz at this point.

I agree, the guy has pissed hot multiple times, hardly ever fights, and recently his fights have been extremely close and lackluster.

Him at HW would have been a lot more marketable a few years ago, I feel like he should have a tune hw fight he can dominate and gain some of his clout back before a crack at the title.

Yeah coming off two questionable wins and multiple failed drug tests isnt really the best bargaining position.
Not too mention he has never come close to hitting 1M ppv buys unless he was fighting DC. And I'm not sure they even broke 1M buys. He is overrated as a star/draw.

Jones lives in an alternate universe where he never got in trouble, kept his Nike & Gatorade sponsorships, stayed active, never got caught for PEDs, & became a Rousey/Lesnar type of ppv draw.

I have seen several people say that Jones vs Ngannou would make at least 2 millions PPV buys, which is the kind of ratings Jones seems to expect. It sounds absolutely insane, that's almost three times Jones's best PPV as a main event and it's never going to happen.

Yeh he hasn't been an exciting fighter for a long time. I don't really care if he returns unless its against Francis

Not really. He's one of the biggest stars the ufc has rn. Only conor, nate and masvidal (who are all underdogs going into their next fight) sell better than him.

Unfortunately, the reality is that Jones is worth what the UFC is willing to pay him...and that won't be nearly as much as Jones wants, because the UFC has other options.

Lewis will probably fight for 1/10 of what Jones will want and the PPV will not decline to 1/10 of the buys that it would have done...so why would the UFC pay Jones what he wants? It won't.

If Jones has half a clue, and is confident he can beat Francis, he is probably going to have to lower his expectations and 'bet on himself' to some extent. If he becomes HW champ, he will have all the leverage he wants.

I'm not saying this is a fair/good reality...but that is what it is.

If Stipe had won does anybody doubt the tweet would have been something like "Congratulations champ you are the HW GOAT I look forward to the challenge"

Hilarious how ppl are giving the benefit of the doubt to the guy who has popped multiple times PED and is on record for snitching on his peers. His tweets are as legit as Trumps

It’s be interesting to know exactly how much he is asking for for this fight. I can see both sides here. I definitely don’t think Jones is itching to fight Ngannou but I also think it’s reasonable for him to want an increase in pay to do so.

Adesanya vs Blachowitz did more PPV buys than any card headlined by Jones without Cormier. He is not a huge draw and his ratings have not improved in years, they even seem to have declined. He'll always have supporters, but being such a cheater and a POS crippled his growth as a true star. Further proof: he has been lowballed and taunted by Dana for a year and never came close to get the upper-hand.

Stopped reading in the first paragraph, it was evident that this thread would continue to get dumber

Jon Jones isn’t as big of a draw as he thinks he is.
