Usman vs gsp prime 4 prime

GSP kicking game being overlooked here, far batter than Usman in that arena.

He would round-kick (front switch and rear leg) and jab the ever living fuck outta Usman. Usman kinda plods and GSP at least moved with “riddum”.

When Usman plants his feet to throw a proper punching combination GSP would be ducking under with timed TDs.

At his Prime, he would destroy Marty (decision destroy LoL)

Everyone saying GSP by wide UD is correct here. Anything else is kinda laughable

Usman is not unbeatable- he is last of the evolved UFC 170ers and since , the division has been watered down. I mean - Jorge Masvidal is getting a second shot at UFC gold. Maz is a solid welter but c'mon. T- wood cliff dived after loss so , again, really hard to make opinions. I give prime gsp edge over Usman. I still believe, currently- 2021, that Bellator has best welter and Usman is #2 with a drop down to whomever is #3.

That's me and I come from the camp that mma has dipped since its height in 17 into 18( excluding " wec" classes in 35, 45 and 55). At the very top( champs) in heavier divisions are solid but the contenders/ depth - I just dont see it.

A very close decision win for GSP. People saying 50-45 GSP are talking out of their asses. GSP struggled heavily to take down BJ, albeit prime BJ was incredible, but Usman is much bigger than BJ and weight matters a lot in wrestling.

GSP undoubtedly has the striking advantage but Usman hits a little harder and has an equal reach to Georges. His striking is improving every outing he has. Trains with an amazing coach in Trevor Whitman as a bonus.

The division isn't watered down though. Marty cleaned it out. Last year 170 was considered best division in the UFC.

Funny how GSP generally gets the benefit of the doubt in matches like this. But Jones gets KO'd by all the new guys according to these same people.
Anyway, I favor GSP by of course decision, but the gap isn't as wide as people think. And I wouldn't be surprised if Usman somehow took it if GSP couldn't slow him down.

I wonder how Usman would react to ending up on his back. GSP would duck under atleast once and power double him. I think GSP wins a decision, but it’s a tough fight for him.

While I do think Usman is the 2nd best WW to ever exist behind GSP (Just an opinion, he's not fully proven it yet), I think a world where GSP doesn't batter Usman with jabs for 5 rounds is pretty unlikely.

It might not be a 50-45, Usman might take a round or 2. Also Usman could still not have reached his prime yet, if he tightens up his stand up game, there is potential to pass GSP.

I think the fight will be a lot closer. GSP's advantage was based on him being the larger guy in the cage. He had also better reach than most people in his division at that time. Also Usman's prime was probably a few years ago. He is a smart fighter by learning how to grind someone out. He has a lot of injuries accumulated from wrestling.

Usman's taller and stronger than GSP was. Stronger wrestler, stronger in the clinch. But his striking defense isn't on that level. I could see GSP getting taken down some, getting back up and outlanding Usman, so Usman would have to turn it up and pressure. Would've been close.

Usman's boxing offense has improved a lot, his jab and 1-2 are very good for anyone now, also with power, and has 5-round cardio. If one hurts the other it would be Usman, so GSP would have to make up for it with volume (Colby landed a lot on Kamaru, and he's a much worse striker than Georges was). GSP was better at mixing striking to takedowns, so element of surprise and knowing how to win rounds would go to 'im.

Time machine: Usman UD
If equivalent era: GSP UD
Relative to era: GSP > Usman

Unless Usman lands a Serra like haymaker he’s on his back when GSP wants him there. Wouldn’t be surprised if he is exhausted in the championship rounds and gets submitted.

Usman did a pull counter against Burns when have you ever seen GSP pull off something like that?

Usman by UD.
Not a counter but this was perfectly set up.
GSP threw a few leg kicks and on this one looked down but threw it high.

When has Usman done anything like that?

Usman's jab is probably as good if not better than GSP's tbh and he isn't fighting one dimensional bums like GSP did. I'd favour GSP's wrestling (just) but Usman's striking and cardio.
Try a little less as you are coming off as a complete Try Hard.

Jay Heiron = or > Masvidal and similar in skills.
GSP vs Heiron:

Usman UD of short notice Masvidal

Usman has wins over complete, well rounded fighters? Like Aerobic Class Colby? Tyron? Maia? RDA? The most complete fighter he beat was Gilbert Burns and he did a great job. GSP beat many fighters of burns level or higher.

I would be rooting for GSP but not so sure he takes it. What do people think happens in Usman vs Prime Hendricks (who arguably beat GSP)?
