Social John Cena profusely apologizes to Chinese netizens and China for calling Taiwan a country

Fuck John Cena. I always preferred Batista back in the day anyway.
Batista is also super liberal.

But, Batista has this moment going for him too so... net of 0?

ah, yes. communist china, mao, etc - JUST LIKE right-wing 'merica.

oh, wait.

Uh, yeah. In case you didn't know, it's the right-wing parties in Taiwan that support China and the left-wing ones that support independence. The Taiwanese right, like the American right, favors ethnonational muscularity, ethnic majority rule, and deference to power and therefore favors rejoining China. The Taiwanese left, like the American left, favors pluralism and minority rights, and therefore opposes joining China. On the issue of nationalist imperialism, the left-right spectrum is pretty easy to spot.

Obviously, the dividing issue between the CCP and the Republican Party is government jurisdiction over international capital. In practice, the issue of gun rights also comes up, but the GOP isn't actually doctrinally committed to gun rights at all and would drop it as soon as it became expedient to do so. But once you move past the difference in regulating commerce through the public sphere, the GOP and CCP are pretty darn similar as reactionary, nationalistic, imperialistic parties. Both want an ethnostate, both want to silence critics and revise history to be more "patriotic," both want to suppress labor union and prioritize production over public health and welfare concerns, both want to attack and suppress protesters, both want to oppress and political exclude racial and ethnic minorities, and both will do just about anything to retain power. The CCP is a little more principled than the GOP and still makes good faith attempts to improve the lives of the average Chinese citizen, but otherwise, yeah, pretty similar.

Why are you posting on a political subforum when you have absolutely no interest in thinking about political issues or topics?

If you want to mindlessly derp post, go to the heavies or your local Craigslist community board.

says the one trolling. and poorly, at that.

In an interview with a Taiwanese broadcaster to promote the new “Fast and Furious” film earlier this month, Cena, speaking Mandarin, said: “Taiwan is the first country that can watch ‘F9,'” sparking a firestorm of criticism in one of Hollywood’s largest international markets.
His comments triggered immediate backlash in China, which considers Taiwan, a self-governing island state, part of its territory.
The Chinese, who consider Taiwan a rogue province that is part of their territory, erupted in outrage at his blunder.
Cena, speaking Mandarin, went on Chinese social media site Weibo Tuesday to apologize for calling Taiwan a country.

“I made one mistake. I have to say something very, very, very important now. I love and respect China and Chinese people. I’m very, very sorry about my mistake. I apologize, I apologize, I’m very sorry. You must understand that I really love, really respect China and the Chinese people. My apologies. See you,” Cena said.

But many Chinese netizens were unsatisfied with the gesture because Cena stopped short of saying that Taiwan is part of China in his statement.

“Still didn’t say that Taiwan is China. Is it so difficult?,” one user wrote under his post.

“Actually, it’s better to post a video and directly say that Taiwan is a part of China. What’s the point of apologizing?,” posted another user.

“Please say ‘Taiwan is part of China’ in Chinese, otherwise we will not accept,” demanded another commenter.

Others recalled Cena’s career as a champion professional wrestler and expressed their disappointment in his kowtowing to a rival of the US.

”I grew up watching this man never lose and always come through to save the day for me, tonight I see a coward who just lost to China,” user @ItBegins2012 tweeted.

“Taiwan is a country. Hong Kong should be free. If you are unwilling to say these things because it might hurt your bottom line, you are a pathetic coward,” conservative pundit Ben Shapiro posted on his Twitter account.

More people with fuck you money need to start staying fuck you.

Man, it's like these folks don't realize that just because China is a huge market doesn't mean they need to be catered to. Entertainers were getting filthy rich long before they started worrying about being censored in a foreign country.

It's honestly pretty depressing.

If we're talking about a person struggling to make ends meet or who is other ways precarious financially then yes $50 can mean a lot and I understand being a bit PC to protect your livelihood but John Cena is worth ~$60 million, he's not going to go hungry or homeless if he takes a moral stand here.

Weird to see Lefty posters coming to Cena's defense but whatever.
I'm just calling a spade a spade man.

Talking all hard about China is the new, cool way of online virtue signaling, apparently.

I wouldn't dude

The whole point of having fuck you money is so that you don't have to.

The way you get fuck you money is generally by being someone who cares about money. A lot.

This is like the fallacy of saying Mr. X is rich, so therefore he can't be bribed.

lolz @ defending selling out to china.
China is in the position it is because American companies and consumers (that's you and me, bub) have sold out to them for a generation.

Why would anyone expect John Cena of all people to take a big public stand, lol?
