It would kill off stateside jobs and US manufacturing en masse to go that route.

Huawei already has their own chip design division HiSilicon up and running (though it doesn't remotely cover all of their needs) so if the US isn't going to allow the sale of Intel chips and wants to take the collateral damage on the chin - Intel production is also predominantly US based - then it needs to request TSMC do not manufacture them for the corporation. I mean, the Taiwanese government would probably enforce that (indefinitely) if nothing else but now you're fucking with their business too.

I also don't understand why Intel was always getting picked on when Qorvo sells Huawei radio frequency units that their mobile handsets are dependent on; Xilinx sells components critical to Huawei's 5G base stations; Texas Instruments sells Huawei their analog IC's aplenty; Micron sells Huawei dynamic random-access memory chips, on and on. If we're really going to go all in on playing these games then why not just go full blown COMMUNIST and nationalize the semiconductor industry, @Yehudim? Yeah, well, otherwise capitalism is going to capitalism.

That's why I've longed argued that the more logical strategy is to choke off the means - capital equipment, machinery, materials, software and services - to raise their own domestic industry and keep them in a perpetual state of dependence. The equipment manufacturers currently have a back log of orders from Intel, Samsung, Micron, TSMC, Global Foundries, et al. that will take years to fill at this juncture and they aren't paid in full until delivery. It isn't any money out of their pocket to tell the Chinese: "No, you cannot have the keys to the industrial high tech kingdom".

Speaking of nationalizing industry, rare earths are one of those things where there is absolutely no easy path since China essentially has monopolized mining and refining and doesn't care about little things like "pollution" or "profit"

I'm no geopolitical expert but since a free market has no chance of competing with the cheap state-backed production, I assume the only way to independence from China is to make an exclusive mining and refining trade-bloc and supply chain which prohibits the purchase of Chinese rare-earths, since in a competitive market, private purchasers will just gobble up what China feeds them. Well, I guess nationalization is also an option that I didn't even bother to entertain before submitting this post, lol.

By the way, I was not so warm on your suggestions of feeding China all the chips they need at first, but in the back of my head I knew the approach we took was too blunt and unsustainable. Too bad nobody on the Biden administration is reading Sherdog, lol. I haven't read or heard of anyone making suggestions like that, we are all too focused on conventional means of competing with China.

I actually felt bad for you reading that. And when people make fun of the sandwiches you post on here for the alleged lack of meat. They look good IMO.

The ability to poop in the amount of time it would normally take you to piss, so as not to alert guests or hosts as to what you’re truly doing. Making the Piss Window is most critical when dining out with friends, entertaining guests in your home, or visiting the home of another. Failure to make the Piss Window will usually result in bouts of awkwardness as you exit the bathroom, because everyone will know….you just took a shit.

I'll admit I'm a sandwich snob but he puts it next to high quality whiskey and good looking bud and I'm just left with the feeling "one of these things is not like the other"

It’s tough sometimes man. I have the weight of the world on my shoulders and I just want to share a sandwich. And then I get told it’s not good enough.
