OT isn't a bad idea, but why change rules just because two posters got banned? They did it to themselves. Anyways, the Lounge itself is a good idea for posters to step away from certain topics and shoot the shit with other posters that they may normally disagree with. When people keep bringing politics and posting stories from Twitter, instead of making a thread, the Lounge tends to lose its purpose.

A minimum of lounge discussion was political, and yet the lounge thread is the most popular.
Originally the idea was that all off topic discussion and flaming from threads would be in the lounge, but they took on a life of their own.
We don't want to exclude people, and we can't move the thread to Mayberry and still have political discussion. So that leaves the option of maybe not having lounge threads anymore, or implementing Mayberry rules on flaming.
I've already stated that I doubt people want OT rules, but it is an option.

I think the Mayberry rules thing is a great idea. Moving the Lounge to the OT would be terrible.
