If I was porier, I’d wait on McGregor. The fans and his prime won’t be there when he’s 50, but the millions in the bank should be
Dude, he lost to Dustin twice....in a row....badly...
Dustin is levels above Conor. Specially now that's he's a wheelchair
“Man, if I’m Dustin Poirier, I’m just waiting for Conor 4. I am…if Poirier goes and wins the title, can Conor come right back and fight Poirier if he has the title? Crazier things have happened. So if I’m Poirier, I’m just waiting out and waiting for Conor 4, especially after he said numerous things about my wife and my kids and killing me, all that kind of stuff..."
Dustin himself also has talked about that money fight mattering more than the title. Dustin has said himself "I'm a prize fighter... I'm gonna make 5, 6, 7, 10 times the money to fight McGregor..."
Do you think Dustin should pass on the title shot and wait for McGregor?
He's got the 2 to 1 edge in contests, so he doesn't need to go chasing that fight. Conor will come to him. Conor is going to be on the shelf, healing, rebuilding strength in that wheel, then rebuilding confidence in it. That's going to be a long time, so why wait around?
Let's say he goes for it, falls short..... then he gets the championship fight payday plus the Conor payday. Anyone think his losing would take any shine of that rematch?
Let's say he goes for it and wins. Ignoring whether Conor would actually deserve a title shot, it's now a Conor fight PLUS a title fight. PPV numbers will be that much more through the roof. In addition, if you're Dustin, you now have two things Conor wants and doesn't have - the belt and the edge in their series history. He holds a much better bargaining position in terms of how much of the PPV slice he commands vs Conor. Not saying he gets the lion's share and Conor gets scraps, but rather he's not at as huge of a disparity and disadvantage that we usually see.
It would be insanely stupid to wait around for Conor to rehab and pass on the opportunity for the belt. Even if he's a money fighter, champs get paid more. Period.
WHat's he going to do,roll over his opponents feet?conor would 1000 000% be getting a title shot. what's more he could win it too and I hate the guy
Lol but no, he didnt, a guy that its popular, so he fights for the belt 10 times, lets say some of that are also defenses, makes VERY decent money, sure he made bank for 1 fight, no denying that, but fighting for the belt means decent purse + PPV, unless he somehow its underpaid each time and for some reason continues to get title fights without a raise or winning one.Champs do not get paid more. McGregor made more money in his last fight than the entire career of some champions. Dustin made enough for 10 championship fights.
I think he can spark either Gaethje or OliveiraEXCUSE ME SIR
Stone Cold Steve Austin,a great american can actually beat anyone on the roster. Conor cant beat anyone who is good anymore,so maybe he should take a break from fighting people who are actually good.
Well if thats true thats what he should go do.I think he can spark either Gaethje or Oliveira
No, both are options... it'll be over a year away, Where as he could fight Du Bronx in the next few months. Not that Conor deserves a title shot mind.
Potentially, I suppose win or lose to Du Bronx he could come away needing a fair amount of rest time, and would more likely face Conor a 4th time if he lost that fight.it wouldnt be a title fight because Dustin wont win the belt
