Because he can punch and move well. And is bigger. And younger.

This is a boxing match. Tyron isn't a boxer. He has a good right hand, but we haven't seen much more than that. It doesn't matter who Jake has fought, it's about technique and skills. And he appears to have better boxing skills.

Also as someone said before, being a betting favourite is made by popularity and who people bet on.

Jake Paul isn't a fucking boxer, for fuck sake. Woodley has been in there with monsters. Paul was in there with Nate Robinson.

Strange, because i saw a part of the Believe You Me Podcast (Bisping's) where Gilbert Burns said that he's heard first hand that Woodley doesn't take the fight as serious as Jake does.

Because all of Woodley's boxing experience through all his camps spent to a portion of boxing, all that time spent at Wild Card (he was one of the first MMA guys to commit to a elite boxing camp) didn't result in him being a good boxer in the Octagon.

He always was a 1-handed fighter without a jab or even inside boxing. Huge power and good timing in the right, and good head movement in some fights to counter with the...right.

From Jake Paul's training footage he looks like a pretty good young boxer who's inexperienced. Uses both hands, combinations, uppercuts, jabs. Boxing.

Anybody who trains and boxes is a boxer, for fuck sake. Lol.

Just because you dislike him and because of his background...
If someone can box, and they train, and choose to box... they are a boxer. Regardless of whether you like them or not.
That reminds me of the guys on a night out who after several wines claim they boxed for years as a child. They received the same patronising response as Paul does deserve. Woodley is going to fuck him up. Respond to this when he does.

But Jake isn't just tip tapping around or having 'done a few sparring sessions' as a kid...

He's been hardcore training with a high-paid, experienced team for like 3 years.

You're just deluded by your hate from him as a character, and where he comes from. Anybody who knows shit about boxing can see from a mile away that he can box.

Quote me when Jake knocks out TWood.

Tyron is pushing 40, never looked to have decent boxing

Woodley is not a boxer in the sense that you won’t find any conventional boxer with his work rate.

That said he is an above average MMA striker in the UFC.

If you look at his success on the feet in the UFC.

Fight with Darren no. 1 contender and a striker - One punch KO by Woodley.

Fight with Welterweight champion and striker Robbie Lawler - One punch KO by Woodley.

2 X fights with number one contender Stephen Thompson - It was a staring contest for much of the contest but Thompson slowed his pace to Woodley’s and was dropped and badly hurt in both fights.

Fight with respected striker Carlos Condit - Woodley hurt him with an overhand right and finished him with a leg kick that brought about an arguably phantom injury. He wasn’t dropped by the overhand right but you could see he was stung.

The main concern for Woodley under boxing rules is that the staring contests that take place in many of fights just don’t happen in boxing.

Not only to win, but he's favoured to win by KO. What happened? Are we in an alternate covid universe?

Have you seen Tyron fight lately? And that was in a cage where he could use his biggest strength.

Anytime Tyron gets pressured on the feet he folds

To be fair McGregor showed some skills, use of the jab, weaving and such against Floyd Mayweather that weren’t apparent from his MMA fights - and that’s a pretty hard guy to look good against. If you saw only his MMA fights you would think all he had was distance management and a pull counter.

I expect Woodley has some boxing skills that he regularly uses in the gym that aren’t apparent from his MMA fights. I’m not sure how much skill he has but I think he’s likely a better boxer than people are giving him credit for.

Betting lines are set based on the house making the most money. Woodley actually opened as the favorite but all the money has come in on Jake. I think you'll see it move a little more towards Woodley as we get into today/tonight.

-huge size, height, reach, and natural weight disadvantage
-woodley will be 40 years old (for an athlete thats way past danger zone)
-Woodley is after 4 major career surgeries
-there's a reason he decided to retire recently
-he's coming off 4 losses in a row
-woodley's wearNtear isn't just from his 30 mma fights, he also wrestled all his life from elementary school to college.

Jake has been boxing full time for 4 years ..and has 4 boxing fights

Tyrone has never boxed and has zero boxing fights ..

bookies ignore the drama and look at the facts

… and don’t come @ with the “but TYroNE iS a MmA fIGHTer” …
I think Jake is the favorite, but no...

Darren Till has competed in many local muay thai fights and national level and sparred with high level world champ boxer friends like bilie joe saundersd and tyson fury that come visit his gym.

Stephen thompson has 50 kickboxing fights, and won many karate tournaments.

Woodley chose to stand until he knocked them both down, even though his corner told him to stop.

Ty got hands. But he's washed up now.

I wouldn't say 'huge' size and reach disadvantage.
He's a bit taller, for sure. And maybe a bit naturally heavier/bigger, though not as much as is claimed; Woodley, like many MMA fighters are weight bullies, just because he fought at 170 doesn't mean he's 170, he walks around probably 190-200, so let's not act like his natural weight is 170...

The most significant stat is reach, especially in boxing. And Jake has a TWO inch advantage. Hardly 'huge'.
