Do old fighters with cracked chins take better punches than the average person?

I know that fighters in general can take a better punch than normal people but what about in the late stages of a fighter's career, where they are dealing with cte and have shot reflexes, for example Marvin Eastman, Chuck, or Jimi Manuwa late in their careers. Do you think regular reasonably athletic guys off the street can take a punch better than they can since they don't have cte? Would those guys at the end of their careers been able to eat these punches by Wilder like Charlie Zelenoff did?

It depends. You have to prove CTE actually exists first and not just a theory. There isn't a single active diagnosis of CTE because there is no testing for CTE and there is no proven diagnosis besides theories and assumptions of symptoms that may be associated with CTE. If you can prove there is an actual case of diagnosed CTE please post it and link your source. CTE is just something people say over and over again trying to make it real when it's only a theory. It's a catch phrase but everyone on sherdog believes it's provable science, it isn't yet.

TBI is real but that isn't CTE. The older you get the more your physical body deteriorates, you will not be able to handle the same damage you were able to handle when you were younger especially if you are not taking care of your health/fitness as you age. Plus genetically some peoples brains just deteriorate over time and it has absolutely nothing to do with trauma to the head. What people consider CTE is also found in brains with no history of head trauma. So being able to take hits at an older age depends on the person, people like Bernard Hopkins was fine fighting up to his 50's. But not everyone takes care of themselves like Hopkins in their later ages.

No. Fighters don’t inherently have better chins. Some guys have unreal chins which are far beyond the normal persons chin and the normal fighters chin, but fighters are just people that decided to train martial arts. Plenty of the bad chins get weeded out, but people without a history of concussions have pretty good chins

fighters can take a punch better than regular people is non-sense. we all have the same basic parts but in various shapes and sizes. fighters just happen to be the ones that put their noggins to the test whereas people working a desk job don't.
also somewhat disappointing is one of the best HW power punchers in the game couldn't conclusively ko and mentally challenged internet sucker puncher.

CTE is real, it's just not diagnosable until after death.

Don't be spewing misinformation.

Do you happen to work for the NFL?

The same "findings" that they consider CTE is found in brains with no history of brain trauma. So no it's not misinformation. CTE is misinformation. Like I said before prove it, right now it's theories so you need to stop spewing miss information on unproven science. Find an actual active diagnosis and I'll shut up. Till then you know what to do.

No but I don't appreciate the misinformation of CTE. Until it can be proven it shouldn't be paraded like it's actual science. It's theories that hasn't been able to be proven yet. Like I've said before find me an actual active diagnosis of CTE and I'll shut up.

People don't realize the misinformation of CTE makes all combat sports/fighters look bad. They use CTE as the scape goat instead of considering the actual reasons which is usually drugs/alcohol or their mental/emotional state due to their personal life problems. There is a handful of people that make headlines, the rest are perfectly fine living normal lives with families.

Do you even know what encephalopathy means?

It is diagnosed after death. You asking for active cases doesn't make any sense scientifically.

Depends on the man. I'm sure they can take more than me.

Yes a simple google search can find that. Like I said if CTE is so easily provable, why isn't it proven yet? Why is there no actual active diagnosis of anyone with CTE? You can jump around the subject but like I said, find an actual active diagnosis and that will shut me up and prove me wrong and prove you right. If you can't do that........

Fighting unlike most other jobs is something where having a tough chin would actually be beneficial. That's why you are far more likely to see people like this

And less like this

At the high levels of fighting as opposed to some office job or other 9-5. Even manly jobs like construction or miltary there's no real benefit to having a thick titanium head and neck that can withstand a lot of punishment

Like I said before the "diagnosis" findings are found in brains of people with no history of head trauma. So no that isn't conclusive and strictly related to CTE. It's also found in dementia/Alzheimer's and other healthy brains. People assume CTE is proven science - it isn't.

Depends what you mean by "take a punch"

1. Can a fighter with a cracked chin take a punch and NOT GET KO'd better than a normal person who has never taken damage? Probably not

2. Can a fighter with a cracked chin (if he doesn't get KO'd) react better, recover, keep his wits and not curl up into the fetal position and cry like a baby better than a normal person who has never taken a punch? Absolutely yes.
