Is gsp vs Hendricks still the most controversial fight of all time ?

GSP wanted comprehensive drug testing through Vada and Hendricks refused. Then the Athletic Commission offered WADA comprehensive testing for the fight. Hendricks accepted that WADA offer but GSP rejected it.

GSP actually accepted extra testing, and did more from another company on top of that.

You sir, are an idiot if you think those were 10-8 rounds.

If you think that GSP winning round 1 with a 10-9 score and Hendricks winning round 2 with the same exact score, 10-9, is fair than you are an idiot sir.

GSP was bloodied up and nearly finished in those rounds. They were 10-8s. Oh wait, here comes the GSP fans to say that GSP's skin "gets cut easily" so the damage shouldn't count lol, utter bs.

That is not how rounds are scored though. You don't get a 10-8 because you felt him winning another round by a close 10-9 is unfair. Again, if these are your arguments you sir may in fact be an idiot.

He only accepted the extra testing if it was administered through Vada. He did not accept extra testing through another org.

The funny thing about that is Hendricks rejected the VADA offer from GSP just like Condit did prior to their fight. The reason why Hendricks and Condit both rejected the VADA offer was because they claimed that GSP's close relationship with VADA threw up red flags for them.

So you are saying both VADA and WADA do testing? Because you do know that is wrong right?

Youre saying that increased damage and nearly being finished in a round doesn't factor into whether a round is scored 10-8? That's the stupidest thing I've ever heard. I suggest you actually read the rules before commenting about them.

getting wobbled does not equal a 10-8

I was at the shopping mall lately doing some grocery and I was surprised to still heard a conversation about who won between George and Johnny, the fact that people still talk about it 8 years ago just show at what point this fight was polarized. Johnny won it imo.
Only because people are stupid. There are more controversial ufc title fights, let alone fights.

In which round was GSP nearly finished?

The WADA extra testing was to be done through a third party lab in Salt Lake City (if I remember correctly). It was offered to both Hendricks and GSP by the athletic Commission prior to their fight. Hendricks accepted the offer, GSP did not.

I feel people are swayed too much by GSP's face/lacerations post-fight,
And don't focus enough on the actual match and who won the exchanges.
GSP clearly won this. He just took some shots and his face bruises easily.

You do realize that is completely false and a very quick google search refutes that.

I'll let you take some time to research it but I do have it open in another tab if you need help in a few moments

completely serious, people have the tendency to exaggerate especially when the narrative keeps getting repeated and there was a belt on the line.

both GSPHendricks and Machida Shogun were close competitive fights. There are literally hundreds of fights that could be considered more controversial even other tittle fights like Jones/Reyes which wasn’t even close at all until the last round where they gave it to the champ

"Hendricks' manager Ted Ehrhardt explained their take on the situation to Bloody Elbow, stating that they were uneasy about VADA and that the camps instead were exploring the idea of the Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC) running a testing program through the Salt Lake City testing lab, one of the few labs with WADA accreditation."

Here's the source that explains the story and what occurred- https://www.sbnation.com/2013/9/11/4719572/georges-st-pierre-johny-hendricks-drug-testing-gsp-ufc

Nah I think we were biased by the fact that GSP's face showed more visible damage. Upon rewatch it was a 3-2 for GSP. Hendricks won his rounds by a much bigger margin but GSP did enough to keep them 10-9 and overall won more rounds.

The whole thing is really irrelevant, as neither ever popped for anything even tho both have been accused, but gsp fans do hint at Hendricks being dirty. If people point out that Gsp had injection bumps, an hgh gut, trained w/ proven steroid cheats and was friends with one of Canada's most prolific drug dealers, 'that is fighter bashing'; but if they say state as fact that Big Rigg was roided up and is a steroid cheat, 'no big deal'. "Was Hendricks on steroids for GSP fight?" is even a frequently asked Google question.

It's just hypocritical and makes no sense, best to just treat the fight on it's own merits and not open that can of worms.

I agree totally.

Yes, that shows you were completely wrong in your statements, thank you.

GSP wanted VADA, but Hendricks team were concerned. NSAC were running their own advanced testing, GSP also agreed to this testing and did extra above and beyond.

I bet half of the members crying robbery didn't even see the fight and are just going off of what others say. It was a close fight. I think it gets blown out of proportion because GSP was dominating everyone, at one point 25 straight championship rounds without losing one, and the fight was close. You also had Dana White loudly claiming he thought Johny won the fight and you have a recipe for all the over the top people to act like it was some huge robbery. A lot of people need to learn what a robbery is.
