Even if Habs retain 50% of his salary, how many contenders can afford him (or even they need him, Tampa has Vasi. Vegas needs to make room for Eichel)?
Stone on LTIR, Eichel is in no problem. Might need to make a trade when someone else gets healthy (can't remember who is out currently).

Plus, they don't need Price.

Yeah i know if Price goes to chase a cup listed two teams that dont need and/or cant afford him.

Which teams could realisticlly get him? Rangers, Wild?

Wild would be the only one I can think of that could use an upgrade, and be able to afford it. Penguins could possibly use him (I'm not 100% sold on Jarry yet), but no way can they afford him.

Fleury back to Pens?

Fleury back to Pens?
Could happen, but Chicago would have to eat a ton of his salary, take back a contract, and he hasn't had a great year anyways so it would be 2 goalies who may play great, or may shit the bed.

Might aswell roll the dice? This is possibly last run with Sid, Geno and Letang, then a possibly painful rebuild. Just me though.

Lol.
Other than the first 7 games of the season for Crosby, when he was recovering from surgery, then covid, he has been scoring like a machine. Not counting those first 7 games he has 42 points in 30 games and has won like a billion faceoffs

Don't go planning the funeral just yet. He's a year younger than Ovechkin, who is 5th in league scoring and showing no signs of decline other than not hitting as much as he used to.

Malkin has always been a walking injury. But he's still a PPG this year

He is 34 and who knows if Malkin is there next season, Letang is 34 too. Tampa, Canes, Panthers core is much younger and then there is Boston + Capitals in similar situation age wise with their stars.
They are great and still playing well but when its playoff time, do they have a deep cup run in them? I dont know, would not suprise me but would not bet on it either.

I don't think Tampa or Vegas needs a goalie. Which contenders need a goalie? Most are set. Colorado could do with a upgrade but they went in on Kuemper who's done a serviceable job. Edmonton are mentally broken and it seems they want Flower.

Carey's issues are his contract and that he hasn't played all year. Teams see a guy that pretty much sat the start of the season and is trying to get healthy. Who wants to give up assets and take on salary for that?

Add in his no movement clause and Montreal is probably stuck with him.

I think under the right circumstances and to the right destination he'd waive the NMC. Surely even he thinks he's sitting in the press box of a dumpster fire

The problem is the teams he would probably want to go to, don't need him.

If he was a rental, he would be easier to move, but with 4 (I could be a year off either way) years left it kills the cap of any current contender.

Jake Oettinger put in one hell of a performace last night against the Avalanche

Yep, all the contenders seem set. Am mentioned before, the Oilers, if they still consider themselves buyers, had their heart set on Flower.

For some reason, I don't see him moving. He seems like a Flyer for life
We see but him going to another team to win a cup (or try atlest) and then come back to organization offices in some role. I could see that happening.

Panthers/Hurricanes was one of the better games of the year and they couldn't wait for it to be over so they could switch the coverage to Avs/Vegas so they can slobber over Eichel.

man im really surprised with how fleury has looked this year. to go from winning the vezina to really struggling. i know he's 37 but damn, its like he aged over the off season
