Is it simply that poor, unsuccessful people, who are mad they don’t have much, are far more likely to demand the government take care of them? And that big cities have the highest percentage of people fitting that category living in them?

I mean, you look at voting maps and big cities are always blue, far-left-leaning bastions of Democratic voters. What gives?

In any case, most people are heavily influenced by whatever "group think" is around them and they often would rather hurt themselves and others than go against the grain. Rural people are probably under even more pressure to go along than city people are. City people have the luxury of being totally invisible, hard to do that around a small community.

Another factor could be city people are around so many different types of people that they aren't so closed minded. it doesn't always work that way, but someone from a small town might come to a city and experience massive culture shock just due to all the different kinds of people they have to come in contact with.

Yeah but that's the difference. It's the people in the rural areas that generate the electricity, grow, process, pack and ship the food, maintain the water reservoirs etc. They know what is required to keep society running, it is 100% their problem.

The inner city dwellers are completely removed from all of that so they just take it for granted. If none of the things that keep you alive and society running are an issue for you then you spend your time worrying about different, usually largely irrelevant bullshit.

Even the lower socioeconomic groups of society generally have these things provided for them... hell the homeless people are fucking fat. You can see how this separation from the realities of life can massively bias your world view and opinions on what is important in life.

These are all excellent points. Someone who is a peon assistant to a college “equity and inclusion” board member is FAR more likely to be a woke turd than someone who has a real job that directly affects the goods and services people need to survive.
