Normally when young fighters are signed to big promotions they lose their perfect record or begin going to decision with opponents due to the vast step up in competition.

Not Ilia Topuria, who entered the UFC as an 8-0 relatively unheralded grappler, but is now a 12-0 burgeoning knockout artist.Topuria has KOd his past 3 opponents with punches which is a feat rarely seen in the smaller weight classes. Even Francis Ngannou does not have three consecutive KO victories.

He has wisely picked a feud with the incredibly hyped, though relatively untalented Paddy Pimblett, setting himself up for a big fight down line. How high is this kids ceiling?

I think he's one of the brightest. But I don't know if he's the best. There's so many out there

Yes he is best prospect right now he is hardest puncher in FW and his main style is grappling/wrestling has high level jiujitsu
He will be champ one day
He is still not in his prime

He had covid before zalal fight thats why he had cardio problems and could not finish zalal

He's definitely one of the best prospects.

The only times he's looked bad was against Herbert in that first round, but he was way undersized and Herbert had lots of reach + is a good striker himself.

The other time was in the third round against Zalal. It had been a high paced fight, but Top was gassed by the later stages of the third. It was bad enough that a better opponent might have finished him. Maybe this was a one off thing though. It was his first UFC fight and maybe he had an adrenaline dump.

The only question is how he'll do against great fighters. He hasn't exactly been fighting those yet. Zalal, Hall, and Damon present different problems, but they're not great. Herbet is about the same.

I've go high hopes for Top though. I think he'll hurt a few more before any stops him.

He took fight on 8 days notice and had covid right before they offered him fight thats why he had cardio problems

It depends what weight class. He needs a step up in competition. I don't think he gets too far in the LW division though. He is just too small. He has fought at BW before?

In his last fight ,a relatively unknown fighter had him hurt bad.... but well he finish him like a beast. He will be a contender soon.

Ah, I had no idea. That explains a lot though. He did well considering all that.

Hard to say but he is definitely a legit pick.
He has everything to be a future champ, including the mind set

I wouldn't say Paddy is relatively untalented. Kind of an odd statement to me.
<Neil01>

I would say thats a very fair assesment
Paddy is not ranked material, let alone contender, unlike Topuria.

No. Rakhmonov and Umar are the two best prospects, although I'll consider Rakhmonov to be a contender rather than a prospect if he runs through Magny this weekend.
