The most insane training story I’ve heard (and I’d love for someone to confirm or deny this) was that Anderson Silva used to let his training partners literally punch him in the face… purposefully… and one time it was JUNIOR DOS SANTOS that was doing the punching.

that is insane if it’s true. What’s the purpose of this? Lol practicing rolling with punches?

Maybe not the craziest but Forrest told a story that when him and Bonnar were training at Xtreme Couture they were out partying, as one does living in Vegas. They go home for the night and notice that the lights are on at the gym, they go by half drunk and see Randy in there by himself at 3 AM drilling power doubles. “And that’s why he’s a champion and we’re not.”

Probably true. Muhammad Ali used to let his sparring partners beat him up so that he could practice fighting while hurt. It probably worked considering he became one of the goats, but he also got Parkinson’s so maybe it’s not a recommended strategy

Supposedly a coach "green lighted" Big Rigg.

The story goes that a young green Johnny "Big Rigg" Hendricks shows up to train at a gym (I forget which gym) and basically he was going full blast on everyone, so the coach told Baroni to fuck him up.

Baroni knocked Big Rigg out so bad that he didn't remember anything for a 24 hour period (per Johnny himself)




Also: Thiago Silva found out his wife was cheating so he showed up to the gym with a gun and threatened people and had a stand off with the police.

Silva got arrested and I think went to jail.
