The 4 winners have been Italy, Spain, Germany, and France. Messi made it to the final vs Germany. These champion teams were all fairly stacked compared to Messi's Argentina or Ronaldo's Portugal have ever been.

Agree with everything except that 2014 Argentina was at least equal if not better than Germany. Even in the final they were better, the ball just didn't go their way.

Fans don't care because he's been so spectacular in every single other respect.
