I don’t really see an issue from the MW division perspective, let Whit and DDP play out and you’ll have yourself the next contender. Lhw use to be literally top 3 talent rich division, some would even say the top division in ufc/mma. Crazy how far it has fallen, people use to say it was the Jon Jones effect that he was just so good he made his competition look weak but we can all see it lhw has never been weaker.

I've been watching MMA since about 2003. But I don't recall how strong the division was prior to Jon Jones. He became champ in 2011, twelve years ago. Pretty much the whole time he's demolished his competition, making the division look weak. Rua, Rampage, Machida, Evans weren't in their prime when they faced him. It was a pretty weak division, or as you said, looked week since Jones took over.

Edit: this would also imply they're really angling for Izzy/Poatan 3 at 205. Seems risky, as they would have to give Jiri his shot at the winner. Then they'd need Alex to beat Jan (unlikely), and Izzy to get past Jiri.

That's way too many moving parts, so I'm thinking this rumor is a buncha bullshit. Can't see any reason to do this outside of hoping for the Izzy/Alex trilogy.

We knew from for the very beginning that he had shoulder injury and the recovery times for those were long. Jiri gave out some unrealistically quick timeline and gullible fans believed him.

He’s supposedly been hitting the pads for around a month now, remembering that we saw El Cucuy come off a major knee reconstruction and fighting Pettis IIRC after only 6 months.

That's why I put "Rumored" in the title. I guess we'll see. Seems very possible. I just heard Anthony Smith on Bisping's podcast say he's talked with Jamahal and Jamahal want's to fight Jiri but doesn't want to wait for him to come back so he'll take anybody.
