House of Pain is a great book that describes these people.

They aggressively lied and pushed OXY hard. It was basically a sales company at one point. Once they were forced into bankruptcy, they drained the company and took out billions. It is not worth anything now anyways. So they basically got away scott free. They lobbied congress woth billions of dollars and gifts, so they got special treatment.

Im not against the Sackler's being taken to the cleaners, i just don't think all the money should go to the victims for reasons i already mentioned. By family, do you mean spouse left with bills and children to take care of? If so yes they should be taken care of. I just don't see why other Family members should get paid. Better to fund prevention.
