News Chris Weidman is back against Brad Tavares at UFC 292

Paul Craig would have been a good return fight for teh Chris

I'm calling it now.. Chris Weidman breaks brads leg

Not a great fight to come back to. He was getting surpassed by his competition already after he beat up bunch of old guys. Now he's mentally impacted with the leg and older.

If teh chris can't beat Tavares, its time to hang up or be content at being a middle level fighter

I don't understand why.

He had his time, and could enjoy being a champ for two years. Then everyone was able to finish him, just like that (except for Gastelum).
Then at 36 he breaks his leg, but now he's gonna return at age 39 because...?
$$$

Acting like a moron was always going to catch up to him regardless of what you think about his reflexes. I’m honestly surprised it didn’t happen sooner.
You literally have no idea what you are talking about. The art of feinting and rope a dope is nothing new. Silva’s style was only original in that he used it in mma. He is not the best at it by any stretch of the imagination. So the guy that gets lnocked the fuck out and isn’t feinting is he an idiot as well? Dude your logic is flawed

I will never understand how Silva lost to him lol. I've rewatched the first fight not so log ago and Chris was gassed into another dimension starting round 2, got all his takedowns easily stuffed and was basically just a standing slow plodding forward puppet for Silva to play with. Silva could've KO'ed him like 50 times with all those missed punches and leaving himself totally open at Silva's range but dumb dumb decided to toy around lol. Rogan was saying how terrible Chris was and how Silva was toying with him and bam. Dude ended Silva's career and went on to get KTFO 10 times in row, such a shame...

Because he was better than Silva. Seems like someone was buying Rogan's bullshit. Styles make fights.

Are we factoring in USADA’s presence? Extremely important detail when discussing Weidman’s career.

i wasn't factoring that in, my statement was more an off the cuff reaction that i didn't think that deeply about but you're right that is a factor in a lot of preUSADA fighter's careers that we should take into account. i will say that i also said "probably" not that he'd definitely be the champ today but i think a prime Weidman could've made some waves in this striker onry division. not too long ago a +40 yr old was the champion basically because he could strike AND grapple.

Chris already had mediocre cardio when he did a decent amount of grappling or pushed the pace in a fight. Now he's coming back after a huge layoff at the age of 39, this might look ugly.

Anderson Silva had reached a level where he had been able to show up to work in the UFC octagon with his belt on the line and win fights while playing games, fucking around and not respecting his opponents and he thought he could do that with Chris.

Chris won fair and square 2x. It isn't his fault Anderson got cocky and fought with his hands down.

As fans we were deprived of seeing that fight with Anderson fighting to what logically would be the best of his abilities including responsible defense, but the reality is Anderson fought like that and won until he faced Chris.

Credit to Ray Longo or whoever figured out that Anderson relied on his opponents over extending and falling for his traps and mind games. Chris stayed disciplined, maintained range, kept his feet under him and stuck to the fundamentals.

He back.

Lets go the chris.
