I think this is a great point, and speaks in a way to human biases that none of us can fully escape… I think it’s important to recognize that this phenomenon is ALSO present in doctors, and of course, the pharmaceutical companies trying to sell their products.

Of course. And RFK obviously, for decades, had a pecuniary interest in proving damage from certain chemicals, even in cases where a judge or jury found otherwise. After decades of this, what's he going to say, "no, it was just about the money"? No, the mind will retroactively create justifications for past behavior. It is a rare man who sees his past self clearly.

Ditto with pharmaceutical people. Many drugs have had very serious side effects after they strenuously fought to get them through the FDA. You think they let that destroy their self image as good guys?
