I actually don’t think Bush invaded for oil. I think it was all his idea and in his mind he was righting a mistake we made in 91 by leaving Sadam alive. However, his VP definitely was all about the oil and he leveraged that by hooking up the company he was in bed with during the post war phase

As for Cheney’s role, I won’t disagree that he had a prominent role in Iraq, but we’ve been in how many kinetic and other military engagements since then… half a dozen, a dozen?

I’ll give you that republicans pushed the war and patriotism (one of the reasons I abandoned the party), but if top democrats- including 3 of the last 4 democrat presidential candidates, voted for it, you just can’t say they had nothing to do with it, IMO.

Sure. Its an observation. Its astounding how far people will go, how much they'll ignore, and how much they'll rationalize to maintain that left/right, rep/dem paradigm.

I think that's the driving force behind the resistance and hostility toward "conspiracy theories". If you have to admit that powerful people work together to push agendas then you can no longer participate in partisan politics.
