What Is the number 1 mistake you see among the best in the world?

taking quick turn around fights in order to simp for Dana,
and not getting a significant enough raise warranted to do so.

Dana is cheap so im wondering how much was it that he gave to aljo
to make him take that fight.

"Looping" punches are not always something bad, lol. The overhand right is probably the most successful KO strike in all of MMA.

I would actually say that the simple most common technical error in MMA is exactly the reverse of the OP's claims, its fighters who look to fight as if they were wearing boxing/kickboxing gloves, depend too much on a high guard and a jab and are unprepared for big looping shots which can get though it with MMA gloves.

I'm guessing because a lot of fighters spar with boxing gloves and bring in boxing/kickboxing trainers who are used to training for fights involving them.

Finding a guy that can actually check and block kicks

Strickland came outta nowhere with his kick defense his last outing it looked stellar

Justin Gaethje took away Fiz’s constant leg attacks with great vision/distancing too

Rocking the opponent and then going for a takedown, especially near the end of the round. It’s like reverse panic wrestling. Can’t think of any examples where it led to a win.
Volk vs Yair is the only one i can really think of off the top of my head. Prefect antithesis of that is Alves vs Kampmann.

Who’s or what fight stands out to you the most when a fighter did that?

For me if I remember correctly it was werdum hurting Overeem in their second fight then going for a takedown.

Complacency after winning a long streak I guess

Fedora dove in Werdum's guard and nearly got subbed once but dove in again and lost lol

Cyborg charging at Nunes and paid the price

Nunes thinking Pena is gonna melt and wilt after first round only to get subbed in the next

The guillotine exists simultaneously as the 2nd most effective submission and as the male MMA fighter version of the WMMA head and arm throw.

Lots of good fighters have pissed away fights giving up position and losing rounds/getting finished themselves going for them.

Throwing Looping Punches instead of Straight Punches.

Playing guard instead of trying to get to your feet.
Speaking like they will never lose. They usually lose pretty soon after lol.

Volk vs yair?

Shit was beautiful.

I think you're correct.
I cant count the number of "high level strikers" I've seen folded by a looping hook in MMA.

High level wrestlers that spend the whole fight standing and losing instead of just making it a grappling match that they can win.

Volkanovski Rodriguez tbf. But I totally agree its the dumbest thing

Among even the best female fighters, too many seem to think that they are Ronda Rousey and try for a head-and-arm-throw (which worked well for judoka Ronda), with their attempt ending badly. We saw this recently with Valentina Shevchenko's fifth round. There would have been no 10-8 controversy at all if Valentina hadn't gotten her back taken after going for a head-and-arm-throw.

Being complacent & no sense of urgency. They’re afraid to go out on their shield. Currently the only champion that I can’t think of that isn’t afraid to go out guns blazing is Volkanovski. That Makhachev fight showed what kinda dog he is to try and win the bout, totally different contrast to how Adesanya went out against Strickland.

Blaydes rocked Overeem hard, threw some hard shots, took him down and smashed him with elbows

Probably because the overhand right packs power and many of them have no head movement.
