any other Jiri fans excited-nervous?

I’m shaking , I’m about to lose consciousness

I've never felt more uncertain about a fight
<mma4>definitely a contender for "hard as hell to pick"... Jiri's embrace of chaos/free flowing already adds a certain element of uncertainty, then couple that with the style-match leaving a bunch of uncertainties plus lay-off uncertainties and it gets even more murky
Jiri has to avoid getting chopped down with leg kicks so that he keeps his movement crispy.
I think Poatan smashes Jiri’s leg for like 3 rounds straight until Jiri lands a random straight right during a kick and KO’s Poatan.
Yup, if anyone can derail a gameplan with leg kicks, it is Alex. I assume Jiri knows that too of course.
If that happens I might cum myself to the moon and you'll never see or hear from me again.
lol

Always a fan of Jiri but yikes coming off a 2 year layoff to face Poatan? That's a tall ask for a guy with Jiris defensive lapses.
Jiri is my favorite fighter but yeah, the layoff and coming back from a serious injury worry me. I hope he fights a little smarter this time, instead of just being a pure warrior, and looks for the occasional takedown.

im excited, not nervous.

the last time i was nervous watching a fight was oliveira vs makhachev. the suspense leading up to the fight was immense. people truly did not know who would win. 50/50.

i feel confident jiri will pull it off. maybe 3rd round.

I'm okay wit either fighter winning because I like them both, but Jiri's mystique is so compelling that I might enjoy that even more. At the same time it would be cool to see Alex get a belt in a 2nd weight class in so few fights.

What are, his mother? Imagine being nervous over a stranger you don't know personally losing a fight. Grow a pair TS.

I expect a blaze of glory.

So long as Jiri engages violently, I shall enjoy the fight regardless of outcome.

I used to get like this back when Fedor was undefeated but slowing down (2009ish). It was a fun balance of "oh shit something might go wrong" combined with "but I still have faith in this" sort of thing.

Anyway, these sort of fights are fun as a fan. On the one hand I am dreading the "on paper" aspect. Jiri has been inactive. Injured. Recipe for disaster. Then Alex's style is the worst possible matchup on paper. Deadliest counters, KO power, and technical skill possible vs aggressive striking that relies on taking shots to land them.

But Glover wasn't that dissimilar. If I told you before the fight "Glover will have about 15 minutes of mount time and near the end of that time will have a fully locked in arm triangle" the odds for Jiri would be +5000 or something. Pretty sure the odds in the 5th round live were something insane like that (or even more extreme) for Jiri to finish by sub too... and yet he did the impossible.

And he will do the impossible again... just when the deck is the most stacked (and after some back and forth drama) he will do the unthinkable in the face of absurd danger. Jiri by KO round 2, after which I can breathe a sigh of relief and admire the human quality of persevering in the face of all odds.
Yeah this is my most anticipated fight of the year, I'm going to be drinking so I don't hyperventilate. I haven't been this invested in a fighter's career for a while. There's a chance he loses but I think a few of the reasons cited for him to lose are off base. I believe he has a very high % chance of winning tomorrow. He's hungrier than Alex and he understands the mission.

nervous. because he was very careless during his fight against glover. doing it against pereira who will not give him a chance, he will definitely take the canvass temperature challenge.

lol the irony coming from a guy that advertises in his sig that he isn't a fan of any fighter but proudly states that he does hate fighters based solely on their ethnicity

This will be a great fight but I think Periera will take it as jiri leaves himself open a lot but if he is smart he will try to bait Periera in like Izzy did

Big fan of both but I believe it's a very dangerous fight for Jiri while Alex loses little stock if he drops this one.

I feel like Jiri going into this fight after a long lay off is a big obstacle. I truly like both him and Alex, but I've been a longer fan of Jiri, so I'm rooting for him, but I don't want to see either get KOed viciously.

Side note, if Jiri loses, I can see him and Walker fighting next, which is another fight that makes me nervous for both. Walker has come a long way and they're both crowd pleasers. We are all winners with Saturdays main event.

I hate this fight.

I love both fighters.

I love this fight.

He’s coming back from a devastating injury! He might not put up his best fight due to physical limitations tbh

I haven't been this excited for a fight than I can even remember.

It's simultaneously the one I'm partly dreading because I don't want either go to lose.

Though WAR Jiri!

I'am not worried at all. Pereira can catch him, mainly in later rounds if Jiri slows down...but still, there is much more ways for Jiri to win and dominate in this fight than for Pereira.

+ there is more of not very known and debated stuff outside of our region

- Jiri should be better in every aspect of his fighting game, mainly ground, it should be on same level as his standup (he +- 1.5 year ago hired BJJ expert into his trainers team) and he is reportedly in best form of his
life recording to big circle of people.

- Jiri's main sparring for +- decade was lefthanded ranked GloryKickboxing fighter with similiar height and bigger reach

- His doctor said that he never seen someone fully and fast recover without any major consenqueces like Prochazka. His arm is more like improved than damaged because of untreated ruptures which were fixed after xxx years.

Jiri simply have to hold distance during stand-up and eventually take it down if there will not be holes in Pereira's stand up for finish.
