Been 2 years??? FuckAlways a fan of Jiri but yikes coming off a 2 year layoff to face Poatan? That's a tall ask for a guy with Jiris defensive lapses.

definitely a contender for "hard as hell to pick"... Jiri's embrace of chaos/free flowing already adds a certain element of uncertainty, then couple that with the style-match leaving a bunch of uncertainties plus lay-off uncertainties and it gets even more murkyI've never felt more uncertain about a fight
Jiri has to avoid getting chopped down with leg kicks so that he keeps his movement crispy.
Yup, if anyone can derail a gameplan with leg kicks, it is Alex. I assume Jiri knows that too of course.I think Poatan smashes Jiri’s leg for like 3 rounds straight until Jiri lands a random straight right during a kick and KO’s Poatan.
lolIf that happens I might cum myself to the moon and you'll never see or hear from me again.
Jiri is my favorite fighter but yeah, the layoff and coming back from a serious injury worry me. I hope he fights a little smarter this time, instead of just being a pure warrior, and looks for the occasional takedown.Always a fan of Jiri but yikes coming off a 2 year layoff to face Poatan? Yeah this is my most anticipated fight of the year, I'm going to be drinking so I don't hyperventilate. I haven't been this invested in a fighter's career for a while. There's a chance he loses but I think a few of the reasons cited for him to lose are off base. I believe he has a very high % chance of winning tomorrow. He's hungrier than Alex and he understands the mission.I used to get like this back when Fedor was undefeated but slowing down (2009ish). It was a fun balance of "oh shit something might go wrong" combined with "but I still have faith in this" sort of thing.
Anyway, these sort of fights are fun as a fan. On the one hand I am dreading the "on paper" aspect. Jiri has been inactive. Injured. Recipe for disaster. Then Alex's style is the worst possible matchup on paper. Deadliest counters, KO power, and technical skill possible vs aggressive striking that relies on taking shots to land them.
But Glover wasn't that dissimilar. If I told you before the fight "Glover will have about 15 minutes of mount time and near the end of that time will have a fully locked in arm triangle" the odds for Jiri would be +5000 or something. Pretty sure the odds in the 5th round live were something insane like that (or even more extreme) for Jiri to finish by sub too... and yet he did the impossible.
And he will do the impossible again... just when the deck is the most stacked (and after some back and forth drama) he will do the unthinkable in the face of absurd danger. Jiri by KO round 2, after which I can breathe a sigh of relief and admire the human quality of persevering in the face of all odds.
lol the irony coming from a guy that advertises in his sig that he isn't a fan of any fighter but proudly states that he does hate fighters based solely on their ethnicityWhat are, his mother? Imagine being nervous over a stranger you don't know personally losing a fight. Grow a pair TS.
Not quite two years, Glover fight was in June of 2022Been 2 years??? Fuck
Now that is not very nice. If you do not have anything nice to say, it is best not to say anything at all. What are, his mother? Imagine being nervous over a stranger you don't know personally losing a fight. Grow a pair TS.
