Nice. It's embarrassing, for both fighters and the sport as a whole, that it's taken so long. The match-up has been in high demand for at least 6 of those soon to be 8 years. In no other major sport would this be considered acceptable. Nobody is that patient. They should've made the fight when interest was at its peak. Instead, as usual, they left it on the backburner.

It's Mayweather - Pacquiao all over again.
I don't know when was the turning point in boxing was, but it wasn't like that in the 90s - Holyfield and Bowe signed the contract pretty quickly, and Tyson agreed to fight Holyfield in 1991 already.

Even in 2003 both Lennox Lewis and Vitali Klitschko took the fight on two weeks notice.

Wilder wants to do it at almost 40 years old.

Floyd was probably the OG in turning boxing into a cowards game. Pac was beating people 5 weight classes up while Floyd was fighting a flyweight kickboxer.

Once the casuals stop thinking the "0" means anything on its own then boxing might be good again. In the meantime most the "top boxers" are posers who would probably lose to MMA fighters.

It was Bob Arum who was blocking the Pacquiao fight though, not Mayweather.

There's no way a bum like Wilder is going to beat Parker lol. People think he's good because he knocked Fury out but Fury lost to a 17-3 mma fighter and is scared of a cruiserweight lol.

Wallin vs AJ is a 50/50. AJ kind of challenges himself so we know he's alright but he's obviously beatable.

Smashed it with the Parker prediction!

We haven’t seen enough and yeah one of the fights was a loss, but the connect between Wilder and Scott seems solid so far. Wilder had a MUCH better 3rd fight with Fury than the 2nd and the Helenius fight was so perfectly executed we thought for a second Wilder killed the man (but that’s not out of the ordinary) inside 1. They’ve had years now together, and to the DOUBTERS I say this, I believe in this combo and don’t be surprised when Parker goes night-night in 2 or less and AJ gets put in survival mode and crushed inside 6. Power is the last to go and Wilder has lived plain better than these slow aircraft carriers and he has the only thing he’ll ever need until his mid 40s, godbless power and fearlessness to deliver it.

They should still make the fight
Wilder has always been a trash boxer in terms of skills with an all time absolutely nuclear right hand
That fight against Parker doesn't change that lol

It's our understanding that both AJ & Wilder had to win their respective bouts. Otherwise their match-up is dead in the water. I'd still like to see it but I doubt it'll be made now.

That was the deal yeah
But they can still make it happen, Wilder would just need to give up a bit of that purse split

AJ will knock Wilder into next week if it happens. Feeling confident after this performance. Of course Wilder always dangerous but one punch ain’t going to cut it.

I mean it could still happen but this loss to Parker has taken what was left of the luster off of it. Parker hadn't really been relevant since 2018. That was the last time he was even in the title picture. In his last big fight Joyce ran him over. Wilder was expected to flatten him.

AJ would have to be the favorite now in that fight but it would still likely come down to who lands a bomb first. It's just that type of match-up.

I no longer want to see this fight.
Let it die.
No need to keep holding up the division.

Rather see AJ in title eliminators against the younger but seasoned undefeated and one loss fighters. You may could even throw Parker into this. Reward him for being active and his strength of schedule.

Rather see Wilder gate keep the young undefeated hot prospects. You can even throw Dubois in this tier too.

I still wouldn't mind seeing it tbh. But, I think it's probably off the table. At least for now. Wilder vs Dubois would be fun. Wilder still has other options. I think his time at the top is over though. Maybe he'll prove me wrong but only time will tell.

Pacman lost multiple times including a brutal all time viral KO and when the Mayweather fight was made years after it should've been it was still the biggest fight ever
Lennox Lewis & Mike Tyson same thing. There are certain fights that will always draw eyeballs and this is one of them
There's no way anyone can tell me that Wilder can't win. He would be a very big underdog but it's still Wilder one of the biggest punchers in history vs someone who's been buzzed and rocked plenty in his career

I'm sure it would be a fun fight. You're right it probably still wouldn't disappoint from an entertainment, excitement aspect.

However, even I, as a Wilder fan am growing tired of him losing only to stay in title contention or getting a defacto title eliminator. Never fighting the guys like Parker, Whyte, Ruiz, Chisora, & AJ. Then when he does, he got totally outclassed.

Now that crop of contenders has aged out and has been replaced by Usyk, Joyce, Zhang, Hrgovic, & Sanchez.

So many younger or newer guys at HW who have had big wins against eachother who deserve a crack at a surging former champ like AJ .
Especially since we all know Fury is going to hold the division hostage.
I'm starting to just not want to reward inactivity & a weaker resume.

True the fight would still sell. I think they'd move a lot of PPVs despite him taking an L to Parker. The fight did lose some of its luster though in my eyes. It's too bad they didn't fight several years ago. When interest was at its absolute peak. We'll have to see what unfolds.
