Well it definitely didn't turn out well for the old iraqi government. They got toppled real quick. Then it became a shitshow sure, but the ultimate losers there were the old Iraqi government. Iran is more powerful militarily yes, but in a military vs military fight it wouldn't last long against the US. Fighting against other militaries is a lot different than fighting against insurgents like ISIS

But while we're on the subject the Iraqi war was a crime and the people behind it should be arrested for treason among other things for lying to the state, toppling a foreign government, and then causing widespread instability and countless deaths. Off topic yes but I will continue to bring that up anytime it's mentioned so people don't forget.
