Social woke superbowl ad showing christians washing everyone's feet

Why be "ofended" by dumb shit.

Which is what this commercial is.

Andrew Tates cringe but his tweet feels true in regards to how Jesus is viewed today. Something along the lines of; you can insult Jesus today in america all you want, but say anything negative about George Floyd and people will attack you.

Even if you dont believe Jesus literally existed, the allegorical or archetypical representation of George Floyd, is considered more sacred in 2024. Thats a clear example of the depravity we are in atm.

In regards to this thread, the amount of mental gymnastics the left is doing in thinking Jesus would look favorably on their hubris regarding most issues today is wild. Lol

It's self worship. "Surely Jesus which we despise would totally be in favor of promoting the depravity we enjoy". I'm a non believer but even I understand how rotten and manipulative this idea is.

Oh joy, two for one today. Normally I check this site and also my fellowship site, but today I can cover both topics in a single post.

Christ the Redeemer offers his love to all. Jesus was a teacher and set his actions as an example for Christians to follow. Therefore, we must ask ourselves what is the lesson of such a simple and humble act of washing the feet? "So if I, the Lord and Teacher, washed your feet, you also ought to wash another's feet." John 13:14-15.

Christianity is a religion of servitude. Unfortunately, I feel many people have forgotten that. My favorite part of the Bible are the Epistles, letters written during the early days of the Church. One passage that always stuck with me is "Do nothing from selfishness or empty conceit, but with humility consider one another as more important than yourselves." Philippians

And it's hard to live like that. I try but I do not always succeed. Jesus was compassionate and understanding regardless of his flock's traits or faults. He did not parse out salvation only to the successful. He didn't ask if you were a moral and upright person before blessing you. He didn't even exclude those who could not keep the covenant. So what right would I have to do so if Jesus did not?

I hate how people throw around labels and use "woke" nowadays. Honestly, I don't think about what the outside world will label me. Call me whatever you want, it doesn't matter. Because the only label that matters to me is whether I can call myself a Christian following in the Lord's example.

That was fun and unexpected from my MMA forum. Never thought these two worlds would overlap.

Come on, who has insulted Jesus?

Tate says a bunch of things that aren't even true but are important to build upon the premise for his claims. The fact that he has an audience means people don't think critically about the things he says

love threads like these. bunch of nonbelievers that were mocking believers a second ago now give lessons about the ethics of jesus.
it's manipulative as fuck.
Which ones of us are the believers and which one of us aren’t?

You could say that for pretty much "political hot take" show/host. He has an audience, much like Hasan Piker has an audience.

disgusting commercial. has all the woke shit rolled into one. shows mostly white christians washing the feet of illegals, natives, LGBTQ, BLM activists, muslims, a lady at the abortion clinic, and victims of climate change.

christianity co-opted to push woke garbage, though we already know this.

I really don’t have any objections to it. It is what Jesus preached. This commercial appears to show this out of love and respect.

Where I did object to it was years ago, the profuse apologizing for slavery and foot washing in a self deprecating manner. This may have been after Floyd or some other “tragedy” that was made about race. I honestly don’t think race would have mattered to chauvin, but diff subject.

The only thing about this commercial is that they spent a shit ton of money on it and the people that it is showing compassion to won’t care when it comes to the next “direct action” when a Christian group holds a peaceful rally in a place like Portland. They will be descended upon and attacked like we have seen so many times.

And to clarify, I am not religious. I just see the message they want to get out. They want people that call themselves Christian to act how they preach. All I see is hypocrites

I ain't want my feet warshed:

Its not gaslighting to ask you to be a decent person.
lol and what the hell would you know about being a decent person? You imagine things in your head about whole swathes of people, like when you are speaking of people who don't want kids as lying about their reasons, and then construct specious arguments around denigrating them for your made up shit. Now, that seems like gaslighting to me but I'm more inclined to say it's just plain dumb. It's disgusting and you're a hypocrite.

lol at all hacks in this thread. The commercial was a bunch of white people washing the feet of archetypical leftists. They threw one black broad in there for plot armor. Defintely no political agenda. Never change Sherdog.

<{outtahere}>
Who ITT besides TS would have ever even seen this ad if that tool didn't post it here?

I don’t get what’s offensive about this commercial. Some people are way too sensitive nowadays.
Why is every single instance a supposed leftist issue being forgiven? Climate protestors, BLM protestor, illegal immigrants, Native Americans, abortion woman, LGBTQ people. Why is it so obviously skewed towards one particular viewpoint?

People don't like being propagandized, especially when their religion is being used to do it.

This kinder, new, gentler Christianity is fine by me but it feels like a lost cause. Islam is going to dominate Europe and then come to America next. It's pretty wild how much it has spread in the UK.

And here I was thinking that religion was dying but it feels like it's actually growing. I hope it's just social media making it seem bigger than than it actually is.

Nope, not a Christian, I'm a non believer. You seriously went to "show me in the Bible where" without understanding the message of welcoming Christianity implies giving up on a life of sin before "getting your feet washed"? You were looking for an actual quote? And I already said how manipulation comes into this, by propagating the idea that salvation comes with no cost for the depraved. Pay attention.

It does not mean that. I'm not sure what makes you so confident in your proclamations that Jesus was intolerant of sinners. It shows a pretty fundamental ignorance of the stories of Jesus.

I'm not a believer either. Jesus absolutely did not say sinners needed to repent before being treated with love. In fact, the precise opposite of that idea is kind of the whole point. So, yeah, man, go ahead and point to where you're sourcing this idea that Jesus doesn't love sinners. You've got it exactly backwards.

You said that people criticizing believers and then pointing out the hypocrisy of rejecting something that is pretty closely related to what he actually said, was in some way manipulation.

The error you're obviously making here is confusing "salvation" with "getting your feet washed."

It's almost like folks don't completely understand the cultural significance of feet washing when Jesus walked the earth . . .

THis os hillarious we are the best type of image trying to portrait but in reality nom of them.would wash people feet but this just for image
