You can barely talk to doctors anymore

Sorry about that OP. It's all about profits for them. Doctors have metrics (instructed by the company). I think the goal is only to only interact with patients for only 10 minutes max. It's insane. Plus don't forget, they'll prescribe drugs (that you can end up taking forever) that they make money from. Don't trust them 100%, especially prescriptions.

I had a nasty cough near the end of covid era. Negative covid test but after like a week I was coughing up green shit so I wondered if I had a bacterial infection and needed antibiotics to clear it up. The doctor acted like it was a ridiculous question.

At the end of the appointment I said 'well sorry for wasting your time, I guess' and he just shrugged lol.

Good old 'free healthcare.'

That sucks,
Did you have to call the person back right away who you figured gave you herpes? What did he say?

It was two plump girls that had catfished me...

I didn't find out that I didn't have hsv2 for over a year until better testing became available.

I work in a hospital and we have performance metrics crammed down our throats.
No matter how well you do one year, the next
year has to be a percentage point better regardless of whether it’s possible or realistic.
The administrative people looking at charts don’t give a fuck about the patients or the workers. It’s all a numbers game to make money.
Welcome to healthcare in America.

Kaiser Perminente is literally like a factory where no doctors even have set offices and they just float around room to room. I pretty much stopped going because it was fucking pointless.

The Dr appts are for 10 minute intervals, they arent trying to learn whats wrong with you they just want to give you a prescription and send you on your way.

Have you tried a Vet's office? Maybe you just need de-worming.

Where do you live Canada or Cuba?!

Not really. A lot of them are overworked now and there's a major shortage in our healthcare system of workers in general. Sucks

CVS said the same thing when they cut back hours. More work for the staff and more profit.

That doesn’t even make sense. Not that it matters anyways since it’s not relevant

The last time I went to the doctor I was limited to the number of issues I could bring up during the appointment when I was answering the questionnaire before you show up. But the doctor went ahead and went over all my issues.

They don’t care to prevent anything

Just subject you to meds and testing after you’re fucked

Medicine has drastically shifted from being a field based on treating people to make them healthy to a BUSINESS based on MAKING MONEY, selling pharmaceuticals and following guidelines written to maximize profits.

Once you accept the reality and see it for what it is, while it is still bullshit, it is at least a little less frustrating because you won't misplace your expectations as often.

There are good doctors out there but they are going to get harder and harder to find. More and more the field will be comprised of people who do it for the money (already is) and they are frankly BOMBARDED with pharmaceutical propaganda and promotional nonsense.

If you look at the "medicines" as products and the "Doctors" (PAs, nurse practitioners, etc) as sales people, then the behavior will at least make sense. The rapid fire appointments is akin to waiters "turning their tables" quickly to get on to the next paying customer.

Someone above said to do your own research first. 100% agree. Regardless of whether it SHOULD be that way, it is.

They try to get you in and out as fast as possible.

I've seen so many doctors. Most of them aren't even doctors, but nurse practitioners or PAs. I just saw one this morning and I was in, talked to her for like 30 seconds, then I was on my way home. I got 2 new prescriptions she told me to try. They try to get you in and out as fast as possible. I got a million questions about my bloodwork results, MRI, etc.. but they're having none of it. I'm left to do my own research online.
Yup and when you do your research online and figure out what's wrong, your doctor gets all smug about it, "Oh, you read about it on the Internet, did you?"

I went in for a steroid spinal injection today for my DDD. My appointment was for 4:40 but they called around noon and asked if i could come at 2:10. I showed up at 2:00 and was out by 2:30. Glad to be in an out. It sometimes takes months to get in.

I've noticed the same. It's all about how many patients they can squeeze in for the day and make the most money possible. The only thing medical I feel like I get my monies worth out of is dental stuff. They really seem to take their time and do their job.

It is becoming like Idiocracy they do everything on a computer with nurses even when I had a broken clavicle I would only see an actual doctors for about 10 mins. They have terrible bedside manner too especially for someone who has a traumatic injury looking for answers.

im in the same boat
