Sean wants Ilia, Ilia wants Islam: Weird Scenario

Annoying scenario.

Enough with the champ vs. champ bullshit...all three champs have plenty of work to do in their respective divisions.

Can't wait till they both lose maybe the next champ will be more about the sport.

Why stop there?

Islam wants Leon
Leon wants DDP
DDP wants Alex
Alex wants Aspinal
Dricus atleast wants to defend his belt 3 times which i respect the shit out of esp in this age of belt hogging.

As a fan not interested in either fight. Ilia is gonna get starched by Islam and OMalley's gonna crack his chin if he's not careful.

Not sure how you spun that into a way to shit on Islam. The only one he's requested was the only guy ahead of him on the p4p list.

Topuria thinking he should get a shot at the LW belt is moronic. Omalley and Topuria would be the most interesting of the champ vs champ matchups, and clearly a bigger fight than Merab, but either fight is fine.

"Superfights" should be when the guy from the lower division is ranked higher p4p and there isn't a big fight with a contender. Maybe if the contender is really boring they could skip the line for a superfight, but Topuria hasn't defended 1 time, so he's the last guy who should get another title fight in another division.
I don't even think Islam requested the Volk fight, it was known beforehand that the winner of Islam vs Oliveira would be defending against Volk.

I don't think Alex wants Aspinall, he might of shut those rumors down actually
You're spot on about the rest tho

Like the first response said, it's basically a great scenario for the guy moving up. He gets a paycheck for a "superfight" and if he wins he gets a huge bump in his legacy, if he loses then he still has his other belt in his own division.

The real problem is the UFC allowing these fights to happen, if they shut that shit down then guys would have to defend the title in their own division.

Pre-Conor UFC was on to something when they didn't allow this shit. Yes, there's huge fights to be made between champions, but now that's all anyone wants to do.
It should at most be done with 2 champions who've already piled up a bunch of defenses.

gotta set a boundary of defending your belt 3 times in your division until you are considered a title shot in the one above, otherwise you gotta start from scratch in the other division to prove yourself as worthy in that weight class.

Sean should stay in his lane, he has nothing for Topuria and would take a career changing beating if it didn’t end quickly in the first.

All 3 have great fights in own weight. If you move up an still have a great match up you should be stripped

DDP wants the LHW belt too! Don't forget the Alex at HW for the interim title talk. Poor Tom only has the "Undisputed" title to chase and no extra belt at SHW.
Pantoja tried asking for Omalley on twitter at some point too, so yeah literally every male champion has been looking up a weight class pretty much as soon as they get the belt except for the 1 champion who cant obviously in Tom.

Everybody keeps setting the standard of 3 to move up. I don’t like making it a set number, it depends on the state of the division and if there’s viable deserving contenders. But if you had to have a number, 5 is better. 3 isn’t that much. Should be very exclusive.

I think Dana just has to speak his opinion on it and give a number, any number. 3 is an easy one. By Dana proclaiming a minimum number of defenses, it should curb fighters inclination to feel entitled to fight another champ.

But it also leaves it entirely open for when that scenario ACTUALLY makes some sense.
