Media Nate Diaz Bashes UFC "Want You To Die Before Freeing You From Contract, Free Conor" - Update: Mcgregor Responds

Conor is not bound by the champion's clause, but if the UFC offers him a fight and he refuses, the UFC certainly can and will extend his contract. It is basically the status quo for most signed fighters. I am pretty sure that Conor will also be bound by the matching rights period if he ever does become a free agent too.

The UFC doesn't mind letting guys like Big Frank and Nate walk. They will not be so quick to let Conor go and earn money for himself and others elsewhere.
They were not quick with Ngannou, but he did his part, fought as champion for 600k instead of like 5 millions, left more if he signed for Jones, with Conor is easier, just take the damn fights, Nate did it, Ngannou did it, Conor makes millions each time.

It'll obviously sell to casuals, but I can't be the only one who doesn't even wanna see Conor vs Nate 3..
Yeah, not me, that fight will suck and we already saw it twice. The second fight was no good imo, the 3rd would be even worse.

Connor goes through the same thing as Diaz in his last fight contract, not surprised mother…….

and like that Nate is back on bad terms with Dana & co lol

he was finally in their good graces too! even managed to leave amicably
He left ? Did he ? Why isn't he fighting Jake in PFL for 10 mils ?

Good. We don't need an unneeded trilogy that can only taint the rivalry at this point. That sleeping dog needs to lie and be remembered as it is for what it was.
It is meaningless overall but I’d be fine with it just because it dosent need to hold up any divisions

Its the opposite, before no one could leave, see GSP, Ngannou's contract was after the lawsuit, so to protect themselves contracts have expiration dates, but there are probably a ton of rules about it, with champs is harder, but still doable.
Okay, apparently I miscommunicated. Champions used to be locked in forever, another fighter's lawsuit (I believe Cung Le's) created the Sunset Clause, Francis managed to avoid the UFC's best efforts to trap him and used it to make an escape, and now they've gotten rid of the Sunset Clause so no one else can do what Francis did.

Interesting, so despite lawsuits they have gone back to their old ways, i had no idea, specially with the class action lawsuit going, and yes, i was under the impression that after someone sued them they started with sunset clause, i had no idea they rolled it back, Conorˋs contract might still have it considering Ngannou drama is sort of recent.

Am I the only one that wishes McGregor would drop the chandler fight and let these has-beens settle their rivalry?

With both fighters clearly past their best and desperate to come out the winner of their rivalry? I think we would have an epic fight

I don't care about Conor fighting again, but a rubber match with Diaz would have been worth a watch

I honestly don't give a fuck about chandler,

I would love to see Conor, the spawn of Satan be humiliated again

He's a coke-addict.

UFC is not gonna risk investing so much money in a potential Conor-headlined event only for him to be a no-show.

He needs to check himself into rehab.

Cokeheads can't be trusted.
Yet he has never no showed a fight. Had never pulled out of a fight even for injury he always fights if he signs . He the safest bet in the UFC to make a fight. Your reply makes absolutely no sense.

Amicably? They tried to feed him to the woodchipper on the way out (Chimaev)

There was a thread posted here about it, linking to a now-deleted Bleeding Elbow article, but I can't find it when I searched.

Dude, that´s a stupid argument. You know right?
Not from UFC's perspective, where their primary motive is profit. There's a reason CM Punk got a second fight in the UFC. It's not like die hard MMA fans were clamouring to see him fight.

Conor "owes" everything he has to the UFC, they made him a star and want the profit back. Fuck em both.

The UFC doesn't "make" stars, they leech of them. If they made stars then they would not have been calling Khabib to come back for ufc 300
