Media The Champ has a Name - and the UFC knows that too šŸ˜

Rematches are only won by the same guy 60% of the time so yeah you can't bank on it going the same way. Poirier is totally undeserving of another TS and should be behind both the winner of Oliveira vs Tsarukyan and the winner of Gaethje vs Max. UFC will give whoever they want a title shot tho as evidenced recently by Chito and Erceg getting title shots.

Does anyone really want more rematches and if so when do they end? I would rather UFC not adopt tennis match rules. I like the policy that fighters should have to pay rubies to buy additional title shots at a cost of 2 to one. If a fighter hasn't earned the rubies to pay for the TS they need to earn it with wins.

Assuming Oliveira and Gaethje win their upcoming fights I don't think there is any reasonable logic to say either of them or Poirier are any more "deserving" than each other. If Arman wins I think that it would be pretty difficult to put him in a PPV main event with Islam , it is just a very tough sell over DP with that latest show, likely same goes for Max unless he puts on an amazing show that ends with finishing Gaethje in dramatic fashion.

Also even when the same fighter wins twice it's rarely in the same fashion. Just thinking of random rematches that come to mind, Rose vs Joanna and Weili. Knocked them out the first time and then won by super close decisions in the rematches. Same with Esparza beating her twice, 2nd time was very different. Izzy vs Whittaker 2 Whittaker arguably won, so on and so forth. Too many to count.

That makes complete sense. You KO someone the first time, the ball is in their court to do something if you fight again otherwise it looks even better to cruise to decision win the second fight to show the opponent given all the chance in the world could never beat you. Then you have the incredible case of Jones vs Gus that went the other way around. Gus gave Jones the toughest fight of his life by far ending in decision the first time so Jon wanted to do it again to prove to himself he could put Gus out.

Also I wasn't saying Islam is avoiding Oliveira or anything, just pointed out he hasn't defended against an actual lightweight yet, Poirier would be the first and there are several fighters more deserving of a TS than him right now. Of course Oliviera pulling out caused the Volk rematch but yeah, Islam can tie the lightweight defense record via fighting a 5'6 featherweight twice and Dustin jump the guilly Poirier.

I hear you on that. I really don't care who it is but Islam needs to shut up and book a fight or give it up. The earliest opportunity now looks to be 302 which would mark around 8 months since Islam fought. I really like Islam but come on, cut the shit and get in the cage, guys that want to fight book fights it isn't this hard.

Itā€™s quite wild what kind of performances and against who is at the moment required to get the title shot. Two years ago you had to beat short notice Dan Hooker and catchweight Bobby Green. Good that times change.

Haha, yep, Hooker was probably the worst gate keeper of all time, the guy couldn't even stop a gentle breeze from swinging that gate wide open.

So are they talking about Islam? I checked the list of names UFC knows are champions and am a bit confused by your title and comments
Itā€™s a reference to the quote oliveiraā€™s team gave after he fought gaethje. He lost the belt due to missing weight by half a pound due to error committed by the scale used to prepare before the official weigh in. It was meant to declare that he is still the best fighter in the division regardless.

I get the point of the video, I'm just being silly as well don't mean any harm, my sense of humor works very poorly in text, and pretty much every other form I've tried so far.
Youll find the right form eventually.
-Nah you got it already

Makachev can only fight in abu Dabi now. Itā€™s the only way to get insurance on the weight cut, which is taking its toll on him now. His plan is to retire early because the weight cut is essentially killing him. At least, he can cut less to go up to welterweight for 2nd belt, but since itā€™s not getting cleared, heā€™s forced to endure the brutal weight cut to 155 still.

Arman vs oliveira
Gaethje vs holloway
Gamrot vs rda
Bsd vs poirer

So many epic fightsā€¦ all weā€™re missing is the champ himself. Heā€™s waiting for October to roll around

Pretty embarrassing thread tbh. Charles got completely smashed, rocked multiple times, slung to the ground multiple times, then submitted, then turned down a rematch in Brazil because of "emotional stress" after losing, then took the rematch later and pulled out 12 days before, but maybe Islam is afraid of the rematch. Lol.

Islam hasn't missed weight, he's made weight in Vegas a bunch of times, Boston, New York, Canada, Russia, Australia, but put on your tin foil hats, ladies and gentlemen, because the UFC also use their biggest Muslim stars on their Abu Dhabi cards, and they never put UK fighters on the UK cards, Canadian fighters on the Canadian cards, because they can't make weight anymore else, other than the dozens of times they have, whereas Charles has missed weight a bunch of times, and even had his title stripped because he couldn't make weight.

Pretty embarrassing post tbh. Down playing your boys best win like this and then defending his hiding in the desert.

I've never been convinced. He's squeaked by against top competition.

Normally I say if you do that enough times and you can't call it a fluke anymore and it doesn't matter how close the fights are, but Islam merked him, and he'll do it again if they fight.

I don't think anyone is ducking anyone. Olives probably doesn't want to take the fight in the UAE. Nobody wants to fight in enemy territory unless they have a big advantage. Just have the fight in Vegas. It's neutral territory for both men.

Anderson Silva defended his title many many times all over the world. You never saw him cry about where he was fighting. And he was the champ! Olives aint even got a belt.

Thats not fair to Charles. It's just his style. Very high risk. When you are finishing guys in the first and 2nd, thats not squeaking by. Squeaking by would be like split decision wins or something.

At this point they may as well give the belt back to Mcgregor.
Christ on a cross, cool it with that bull shit. Islam has defended the belt once already and is rumored to be defending it in June.

Lol when did he go into enemy territory outside of Franklin? Man lives in America.
