Yeah it showed how durable he was, he went right back to business afterwards too. Gaethje wasn't completely out of his league though and that nose break changed the course of the fight. Still Max showed he has something at LW and proved he could probably be top 5 there.

I thought max could possibly win but not by KO. Volk seemed to walk through max and Justin has taken shots from big punchers. It was a big KO too, Justin was down for awhile and was still unsteady at the end. Pretty shocking in general.

Max OBVIOUSLY deserved performance of the night, and of course the ending was absolutely insane.

Though it Felt like after the nose and the two eye pokes really early that it was mostly a foregone conclusion.

But I think the Jiri Rakic fight was a better "fight" personally as it was competitive.

Honestly, I wasn't super interested in this fight because I hate Gaethje as a favorite and obvious win. Never thought he was gonna steamroll Max, but I figured it would be a repeat of Poirier v Max. Thought it was a fluffers fight for the main card. Turned out to be the fight of the night and it's going to be career altering for both guys. That might be it for Gaethje, chin might be gone now.

That spinning kick that broke Justin's nose at the end of the first won that fight for Max.

But his speed and boxing was giving Justin problems already. I think Justin would have made it more of a barn burner if his nose didn't get crushed in the first round though.

Not saying it was lucky or anything like that. Clearly he landed the same strike over and over and worked on that move. Just an incredible performance by Max all around

Did you see the sequence that put Gaethje out? Hands down, swinging wildly, doesn't see the punch that puts him down. That doesn't happen without a brawl.

You can absolutely sit on a punch without brawling. Are you slow? Max was just point fighting most of the fight.
