lol I’m a big Aljo hater but this is a clever callout. Evloev is highly ranked and grappling specialist, granting a quick path to title shot for Sterling if he can win a close decision.

This is the fight I called for, but figured Evloev was in a good position and Aljo called out Ortega first. So I'm very pleasantly surprised that both: Aljo threw the challenge to Ev and that Ev is down for it.

If the UFC wants to avoid a boring/ grinding grappler from reaching the top, which I'm assuming they do, they should jump on this immediately to drop one from being in the title scene

I could actually see Evloev winning by tko/ko if the wrestling cancels out. The knee caught Ige with finishes most FWs & he hurt Allen pretty bad with a beautifully timed jab I believe.

Aljo has an advantage or tactical preference in this fight. He is a bit of a staller and counter wrestler. He will wait for shot and then try to out grapple.

Standing advantage might lean towards his opponent

I don't mind Aljo, I know a lot of people hate his fights, but I don't, nor have I hated Evloev. Neither are shut out merchants, both are shaky at times.

But yeah, this is definitely the fight to make. No reason to derail two strikers who clearly won't be able to counter-wrestle, just pit them against each other at this point.

I don't think Evloev is getting a titleshot without winning one more. You have Volk deserving a rematch and Max with all the momentum in the world.

This would be a good fight. I think Evloev beats Sterling.
