News UFC coming to France , tickets available on June 24th

They do this now, when Francis isn't with them any more? Maybe Cyril can main event against Tybura?

The UFC will finally make its highly-anticipated debut in French territory on Sept. 3, setting up the octagon at the Accor Arena. Tickets will go on sale on June 23, the company announced Thursday.

The promotion has yet to officially announce any matchups for the card, but middleweights Robert Whittaker and Marvin Vettori have already voiced their interest in meeting in a five-round main event.

Thread has already been made, please check first if its not been done before, you try to steal my thread homie ?

Are they really going to debut in Paris France without a title on the line? I guess Gane is your ME. But that seems like a pretty weak way to debut in such an historic place. Is this specifically a FN card? Because that would make sense. But it wouldn’t make sense not to have a title or two on the line, and making it a big ppv, all things considered.

They could definitely do an event in Rome though, that would be cool as well.
Yeah and bring back the Gladiator-themed intro if they have an event in Rome. Near the Colosseum and all that.....

Wasn’t the main supposed to be tai vs Cyril ?

They don’t need a title on the line. London is just as important of a place as Paris and a title was never contested there (atleast not in recent history).

Also PPV events, in general, are restricted to North America to accommodate the paying customers. Having a PPV event in Europe would hinder their ability to sell PPVs in US unless the events take place at uncomfortable times of the host country.

I guess the time zone and possible hard time selling a big arena are factors here.
US troglodytes are still the ones buying PPVs, we Euros have TV and streaming deals for the same events.

Yeah, but the UFC has screwed the locals before to make the timezones work for the N American ppv audience.

It just seems like a big opportunity. The first time ever in Paris. Even if you get Whittaker for the co-main. It just seems a bit flat. There’s only ONE first time for anything.

No matter. I’ll be watching whomever is on the card.

I really doubt they'll sell many tickets in Paris for a UFC event taking place in the middle of the night and finishing after 6am. But I could be wrong, I have no data.

They’ve sold out similar shows already. Why wouldn’t Paris sell out? It’s a world class city known to never sleep. You don’t think 20K Euros would buy tickets to an all nighter of the first UFC show in the country? You can’t be serious?

France is a bit different. MMA was banned from TV until a couple of years ago.

EDIT: plus UFC is really not THAT popular in Europe, barring the UK and Ireland, and even there not nearly as much as you're used to see in North America.
It's growing somewhat but PPVs aren't huge or anything, no media talks about it except maybe when there's McGregor involved.

Probable fights on the cards: Gane-Tuivasa and Whittaker-Vettori.

Likely other french fighters on the cards: Fiorot (vs Valentina?), Imavov, St Denis.

Plausible future signings: Taylor Lapilus, Abdoul Abdourakimov, Oumar Sy, Lucie Berthaud

Speculative future signings: Cedric Doumbe, Mansour Barnaoui

I know they are targeting Fiorot vs Chookigan

Gane vs Tuivasa is the main event.

in the Colosseum
<mma4>
but....tricky.....as there's no floor anymore. The floor collapse a very long time ago (well it is 1,942years old), exposing the underground tunnels and walkways :
