Moose just got dominated

I just bumped the thread from after he beat PVZ's husband and they were talking about him finishing Izzy.

Most annoying fanbase ever in this sport P4P.

The worst thing is they actually believe it. At one stage, a few years ago, I saw discussions of whether he could go up and give Jones a serious fight.

36 years old with damned near 60 fights (not even counting kickboxing) of wear and tear. Moving to Bellator alloed him to delay the inevitable, but eventually this was going to happen.

He has 59 MMA fights. He was a top fighter for years. Crazy longevity. His place is still in the UFC. He is past his prime, I never seen him wining against Izzy or Rob, but I would watch him against them. There were many fun matchups for him. Nice to see someone new emerging as a top middleweight.

Eblen was an unforgiving matchup for him too, imo. Johnny's got the wrestling pedigree to give Mousasi fits, and he answered the questions regarding his cardio.

On paper, I expected this to look like Mousasi/Lovato, with Eblen replicating Rafael's performance with a more wrestling centered approach, of course his striking wound up being the difference too.
That shot Gegard took in the first would have put out most people. Eblen has some awkward striking, but it's undeniable that he has power and is super quick.

Lol the Moose hate is strong!

styles make fights, Gegards kryptonite has always been grappling heavy fighters. He is without a doubt a “good” fighter but his TD defence stops him from being “great” I believe.
King Mo was literally in Eblen's corner and was one of the his main coaches for this fight. Mo kinda wrote the gameplan on how to beat Mousasi

Sidenote, glad King Mo is doing well. Always liked him and he looks way leaned out these days and still involved in the sport through coaching. Doesn't get the respect since he never fought in the UFC, but he was a problem back in the day

When he first came to the UFC and Jones was in his prime, they were convinced that he would smoke Jones.

Yeah, he's got amazing qualities. Dude is one of the few wrestling prospects Bellator invested in that panned out as well as he could've.

Undefeated, dominant and keeps improving. Want to see him take on Tokov next, think he beats him too.

Tokov has a chin as well and is a good grappler in his own right. I remember when he took that bomb from Gerald Harris and still recovered to get the sub

Funnily enough that moment is the reason why I favor Eblen. Tokov has remained far too open for my liking on the feet for the longest time (think the Arbi fight had some moments where he got cracked too), and we know how wrestler vs sambo encounters usually shake out - swinging leather in between trying to score takedowns.

That being said it should be close and we'll see Eblen really get tested there.

the guy has over 50 fights and fought the best of the best.

how could that be overhyped? As he has never got any hype. One of the best fighters of all time thoufg.
The fact that you feel he is one of the best fighters of all time is more or less proving my point.

That was the first time I can remember moose looking completely lost. He’d throw a jab and land it clean as hell and then just wait to be countered. It’s like he realized midway through the second rd his speed was gone

Reminder moose's his cult fan base unironicly thought he could beat Izzy and Whittaker
I've been a Moose fan since dream but I never understood why so many people think he's the best when he's always struggled with top guys. He's always had a wrestling hole in his game he never fixed since the King Mo fight (even though I felt he won that fight from the bottom.)

I've got nothing bad to say about Moose himself, I like him, but the one good thing about this result is that it wrecks the #1 Bellator fanboy/UFC hater on this forum. Hope this result ruined his weekend

Nothing against Moose, but he got his shit pushed in. His hipster fanbase can suck it too.

Mousasi is 36 years old, had COVID less than 2 months ago and cut 24 lbs in 2 days before this fight.
It was his decision to have to cut 24 lbs in 2 days before the fight, right? Sorry, tehMoose, but your guy looks like he's more interested in his rental properties at this point than preparing for cage fighting.

Moose undeniably was a top 3 MW worldwide. Maybe still is. So he lost a fight, maybe Eblen is just that good? For fuck's sake Kevin Gastelum loses 2 out of every 3 fights and people still think he's a great MW contender, how does that work?

Also if Moose did have Covid recently that explains everything. Covid almost made Khamzat The Goat retire, and it retired Povetkin too, he couldn't box at all just a few months later, lost badly, and retired. It takes more than just a few months for a pro athlete to be back at peak.

He is the love of mma hipsters, but true overhyped is not fitting for him
