Vettori was the only matchup that looks bad for him in the top 10. Izzy had already fought and beaten pretty much everyone in the top 10 other than Strickland and Alex. So the UFC wasn't going to put Alex against Vettori and eliminate one of the only new matchups is he could get.
The people...
That is true about it being a younger man's game in the lower divisions but there are sometimes exceptions like Faber who was top 10 at like 39-40ish. I've also noticed most fighters are in better shape this year due to some changes the UFC made.
He's looked a lot better at BW than he did at FLW in the last few years. BW is a better division though. I can see him beating some in the top 5 not sure if he could win the belt though but I think he can be a top 5 guy for the next 2-3 years or at least be competitive with them.
Colby hasn't won a fight in 2 years, hasn't had a winning streak in 5 years and hasn't beaten anyone that wasn't coming off a loss in 6 years. I don't think a win over him does much for anyone right now, it's a huge question mark how good he is or isn't.
Will it though? Colby hasn't won a fight in 2 years, hasn't had a winning streak in 5 years and hasn't beaten anyone that wasn't coming off a loss in 6 years.
UFC 304 would make the most sense since it's a UK card. They can stack that card with a bunch of UK fighters and it would more than make up for Belal not being a draw.
RDA has declined extremely slowly and Gamrot matches up well with Islam due to his grappling. This idea that you have that styles are irrelevant is bizarre.
RDA has declined very slowly and Gamrot didn't barely win, he very clearly won. Gamrot's a better grappler than Volkanovski is and makes for a more interesting style match up. You're also greatly underrating the importance of a full training camp. Full camp Gamrot beats short notice Volkanovski.
I'm aware of Oliveira getting a cut but Gamrot was the planned back up that had full prep time, instead someone decided he fight Volkanovski on short notice(i don't reallt care whos decision it was, thats not my point, he could have fought a ranked LW that had a full camp). Arman already fought...
This is some strawman bullshit, don't lump multiple people together like we all have the exact same opinions. I even said it's not about activity level and it's more an issue of bad match making and champions not wanting to defend their belts against contenders in their own divisions.
It's not really about his activity levels, the issue is bad matchmaking on the part of the UFC and how no one defends their belts against contenders in their own division anymore. The first Volkanovski fight was fine since Volkanovski had cleared out his division but the second one shouldn't...
