Couture was past his prime, but skinny. Toney was fat, which is a significant detriment.

That's exactly what I was thinking. He didn't want to risk the boxer beating the MMA fighter, so he didn't pick a stand up fighter (albeit Couture had nasty dirty boxing). I think most fans would want to see a boxer against an MMA boxer though.

I think you're discounting Conor's ego. It's too big for him to rush takedown attempts. He'd strike with Floyd just out of principle.

He has good defensive wrestling, haven't seen much evidence of his offensive wrestling ability. And he's notorious for not kicking, which is why he and Rogan had that spat some years ago. Regardless, he has a big ego and would likely only box, as he does in all of his other fights.

What would have happened if they gave Toney an MMA boxer, like Rampage, instead of a wrestler in Couture? Let's put aside the fact that he was way past his prime. The point is, what if a pro boxer fights an MMA boxer in MMA, where the MMA fighter is well known for not having any kicking or...
