In Pakistan, a 16 year old Christian Pakistani boy is being sentenced to death by hanging for supposedly making blasphemous statements about the Quran/Islamism.

That’s pretty much all I know about the case in all honesty. I ask that you sign that free petition though, in which it may help prevent his execution..

If anyyyyone knows anything about the case or anything worth mentioning related to Islam/the Pakistani law, please share.

The site asks that you donate money to the petition after signing it, you don’t necessarily have to though.

I believe simply filling out your name and an email address will count/help the cause.

A 16-year-old Pakistani Christian boy has been charged with blasphemy for talking with a colleague about his belief in Jesus, the second such incident in a month.

Shahzad Masih, 16, a cleaner at a hospital in the city of Dinga (near the religiously conservative city of Gujrat), was arrested on 13 July after his colleague, Ishtiaq Ahmed Jalali, accused him of insulting Islam’s prophet Muhammad, a crime punishable with death in Pakistan.

A month earlier, on 15 June, Ashfaq Masih, 28, was arrested in the nearby city of Lahore for saying he believed Jesus to be the final prophet.

The latest incident took place at the Shameem Riaz Polyclinic. Jalali, who works at the hospital pharmacy, is a member of Tehreek-e-Tahfuz-e-Islam Pakistan, an organisation that strives to protect the name and honour of Muhammad. It belongs to the Barelvi school of Islamic thought, which is considered “moderate” and has even faced criticism from other Muslims for its “polytheism” of worshipping at shrines. Barelvis are known for the special respect they afford to Muhammad – more so than any other Islamic school of thought – and are chief supporters of Pakistan’s blasphemy laws.

The police complaint was lodged by another man, Nadeem Ahmed, who claims to have called Shahzad Masih from his mobile phone repair shop, which is beside the hospital, to ask him about what he’d said. In his report, Ahmed states that Masih repeated his “abusive words” against Muhammad and then fled.

One of Jalali’s relatives, Muhammad Saqib Shakeel Jalali, a leader of Tehreek-e-Tahfuz-e-Islam Pakistan, told a local TV station a day after Masih’s arrest: “If the blasphemer is acquitted of the charge then each member of our organisation would attack him.

The Tehreek-e-Tahfuz-e-Islam Pakistan website claims that no suspect has yet been awarded the death penalty under Pakistan’s blasphemy laws, even though the Christian woman Asia Bibi has been on death row for blasphemy since 2010. The website also says that liberal Muslims want to amend the current blasphemy law and must be stopped – a key reason for the organisation’s founding 10 years ago. In April, a Muslim student was beaten to death in the city of Mardan following an accusation of blasphemy.

Several blasphemy cases have been registered before in Gujrat, one of the most conservative areas of the Punjab province. In August 2015, 15 Christians were accused of blasphemy after they used the word “apostle” to describe a pastor who had died years before. Then in July 2016, a Christian man was accused of blasphemy after a religious argument on the messaging service WhatsApp. Both cases are still pending in the court.

By the way it's actually more fucked up than I realised.

This was 6 years ago... he has been held in prison since that day and is now getting the death penalty.

Fuck that backwards ass shit

Last year, a trial court in Pakistan sentenced an innocent Christian man to death by hanging for committing blasphemy against Prophet Muhammad. The man was a minor when he was falsely accused of a crime he did not commit.

A Christian-based legal organization in the U.S., the American Center for Law & Justice (ACLJ), has lodged a complaint with the United Nations (UN) to rescue the man sitting on death row. The affiliate of ACLJ, the Organization for Legal Aid (OLA) in Pakistan, represents his case.

Six years ago, Shahzad Masih, only 16 years old, was arrested under false allegations of blasphemy against the Holy Prophet. He was charged under Section 295-C (blasphemy law) of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC), which states, "Whoever by words, either spoken or written, or by visible representation or by any imputation, innuendo, or insinuation, directly or indirectly, defiles the sacred name of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) shall be punished with death, or imprisonment for life, and shall also be liable to fine."

This is why the world and media fucked up by not just pumping out the Charlie hebdo cartoon when that shit went down.. every media should have run that cartoon. Instead they catered to this stupid shit by being silent.

Easy to say that, but the result would have been lots of children slaughtered in the streets. Would you publish a cartoon of Mohammed knowing that was a risk?

Fucked up. Perhaps the US/UK/EU can exert some pressure on Pakistan with regards to this case considering the amount of aid they give. Having said that it’s never been a beacon of human rights and there are many such stories that also go wistfully ignored. The political climate isn’t exactly stable there right now.

Fair point. My hope would be those Muslims with a ounce of humanity wouldn't go down that route and along with that is its a majority of Muslims who feel that way. Therefore beginning to enact change.

Let's not forget the punishments for blasphemy were as high in the Christian world for centuries, they changed due to popular demand so to speak. Because it became normalised.

But you do bring up a fair point, which I'll have to give more thought to

Stuck in the dark ages...
Religion is the worst, most stupid and useless invention in human history.

I doubt anything will change. Europe has for all and purposes blasphemy laws through legislation (in the UK the public order act and malicious communications act) and self censorship through fear of death.

It's doesn't take many 'isolated' murders before the general population start acting in accordance with the deranged minority. It's pure unadulterated terrorism

No one will care.
Kim is doing everything he want to do in North Korea cos does have a bit some nukes. Easily might tell U.N and West to fu** off.
Saudis doesn't have nukes but a lot of crude oil. Suspicious ppl qucikly are sentenced and no one cares.
Russia at least on paper does have nukes and actually, let's be fair ...is doing in Ukr what they want to do and might laugh and drink vodka with pleasure.

Pakistan does have thermonuclear weapons, are purchasing russian crude oil with discounts and selling ammo to west and so on.

So realpolitik is that they in reality might afford to process even 1000 boys into sausages and sell, U.N or west aren't capable to prevent this or in reality will care about.

When was the last time you could get executed in a Christian nation for making a similar comment?

The last person executed for heresy in Britain was in 1697. In Spain it looks like it was 1826.

Islam is the world's most insecure religion.

It kinda makes sense when you realize that its genesis is the result of Arabs being upset that there was no divine revelation given in arabic, and the Quran is a plagiarized fan fiction of the Old/New testaments.

Giving in to their demands due to the threat of violence is far worse in the long run. Can’t negotiate with terrorists.

And no I’m not calling all Muslims terrorists. Just those willing to commit violence over a cartoon.

Any muslims want to chime in? Because this is really confusing for a non-muslim who thought Jesus is exalted as well in your religion. It's a common fact that Muhammad himself is not in Jannah but Jesus is. And Muhammad is not coming back. Jesus is. I think it's an insult to just claim Isa as Nabi when he has more authority and privileges accorded to him compared to other prophets.

You're preaching to the wrong choir. Our government fully supports them and will not act, regardless of how bad the atrocity is. There's simply nothing Joe public can do, well except a violent uprising.

If you go to speakers corner in Hyde Park and stamp on a Qu'ran, within an hour you will either be arrested or violently attacked. The groups attacking you are untouchable.
