Feb 5th 2020, my fighter Carl (9-1) got a big offer to fight a guy with a pro record of 12-3. Good thing my guy was already n shape and good to go! Gonna be coming up a weight class but thats due to having a hard time getting people to take a fight against him @ 155lbs

1st session of the day

7-10 mins shadowbox warmup
3 min box round to start/warmup

3x 6 min rounds
- rounds were super light and technical, just worked on alotta defense and movement

1st session was light, heading back to the gym tonight for a hard wrestling practice.

1 hour wrestling
- focused on offense and defense to single and double legs

1 hour no gi class in the am

Night session
2 rounds of shadowboxing

4x 5 min rounds on thai pads
- 1st round just punches

2 rounds of shadowboxing
Finished the night off with 4 200 meter sprints

2 rounds partner shadowing and pummeling drills

3x 5 min rounds full mma sparring with takedowns.
- Every round had 2-3 guys switching in on him. All the guys he sparred with are straight killers.

Heres the tapology on 2 of the guys he sparred with tonight. Both of these guys are fighting in Hawaii 3 days before Carl’s fight.

sparring today was rough so i cut Carl off after 3 rounds. Finished the day with another shadowboxing round mainly working footwork
 
So we are currently 11 days out from fight night. Because we took the fight on 20 days notice and Carl was already in good shape (not fight shape) we were able to start of the first week of camp real hard. I feel good where hes at and for the next 11 days will be mostly getting his heart rate up and keeping him sharpe.

- first round starting from the feet
- second round working out of bad spots, if he escaped, we would start over in another bad spot

2x 5 min rounds on the muay thai bag
1x 5 min round on aqua bag/ball
Finished with 1 round of shadowboxing

wrestling practice unfortunately is scrapped for tonight, but we are debating on doing a pad sesh tonight..

Night session

since we didnt have wrestling practice, I decided to make this night session a fun one

1 round shadowboxing
2 rounds shadowbox spar drills

1x 5 min round pads
5 min run @ 8mph
1x 5 min round pads
5 min run @ 8mph
1x 5 min round padwork

Circuit
15 seconds battle rope (as hard as he can)
45 seconds active recovery shadowboxing
Repeated 3x for 3 mins total

So a little hiccup in our plans, Carl had a scheduled change for the week, so we decided to do a workout since he will not be able to attend his normal morning Tuesday no gi bjj class.

after some jump rope and shadowboxing rounds, i decided to switch the day up and run a mma circuit which i stole from Phil Daru. It was a bodyweight mma circuit, nothing too crazy but burned some calories while doing mma oriented exercises and some core work.

After the circuit, worked some resistance bands stuff working his straight punches. Today’s total workout session was about 35 mins

didnt cut much weight at all today. Carl woke up a tad over 172lbs. All he did was not eat or drink while @ work n made weight. Opponent looked real shredded, should be a fun fight haha!

My guy Carl go the win via UD, but def not his best performance.

First round was 50/50 on who won the round. My guy had a slow start but finished the round strong.

Second and third round all striking and my guy def won those rounds.

Official score were 29-28 29-28 and 30-27

My guy Carl improved to 10-1 as a pro... but still some things we gotta work on
 
Tapology updated his record... glad my guy bounced back from his first defeat. Looks like something big this summer is what’s next
