Pitbulls are ghetto dogs so naturally they end up breeding indiscriminately and creating a large population of pitbull mutts.

Still, you can get all technical about the variations and whatnot but the bottom line is that any dog with genetic ancestors that were bred for dog fighting are going to be more aggressive than dogs that were bred for other purposes.
