There's no minimum time that you need to be unconscious before something counts as a KO. If the ref doesn't see it (like in the Jiri/Reyes fight), that's one thing, but if they do, it's their job to stop the fight.

Remember Stann/Sakara? Sakara was only out for an instant, but everyone was so impressed that Stann stopped as soon as he realized Sakara was unconscious, and no one thought it was a bad call.

If you like a fighter, sure, I understand you wanting them to have a chance to keep fighting. But a KO is a KO.

I’ve rooted for Alex since he came into UFC. Wanted him to dethrone Adesanya and I was glad when he did. I had money on Alex to beat Israel in first UFC matchup, and even then I would’ve liked the ref to

Yes, Alex rocked Jiri badly. Jiri was not done, just because he went limp for a split second and fell back during the TD attempt.

The ref should have given Jiri another few seconds chance at recovery. It's likely that Jiri couldve hip escaped full Mount and regained half guard on a kickboxer with limited grappling top control.

Jiri looked like a punching bag last night and was getting tuned up.

Fortunately Rakic is the level of guy you can get away with that. He hadn't fought in a full year and was coming off knee surgery and still was casually out classing Jiri who's game plan is rely on his chin and try and land something wild.

Alex nearly kicked Jiri's legs off and when he went for the 'wild man' routine after getting nowhere with kickboxing or grappling, he immediately got ping-pong dropped. Then he got dropped a second time and fell flat into full mount.

The referee saved him from more serious brain trauma. Alex would murder him again in a rematch.

Jiri is technically awful. The forum loves him because he likes to put himself in bad positions and try to work from there. I don’t think he is ever going to try to learn how to check the kicks.
