Alexander Volkanovski vs. Charles Oliveira at Lightweight.

This is a reasonable matchup because not only does Oliveria have experience in fighting at 145, he became the fighter that he is today when he discarded the mindset of cutting weight in order to gain a size and strength advantage.

And it paid off since by doing that, pretty much every aspect of Oliveira's abilities as an MMA fighter improved by leaps and bounds.

Volkanovski is very mobile, quick, and is very cerebral in his approach to a lot of his fights though. It might not be something that Oliveira has ever faced before, especially from a fighter of Volkanovski's level.

Can Oliveria manage to surprise Volkanovski on the stand-up?

If it gets to the ground, I think that unlike the Chandler fight where he ended up getting outmuscled and mauled by the end of round 1, Oliveira would be strong enough to do much better than expected the grappling department.

What's even more surprising is that Olivera's stand-up is sharper than Ortega's, hit harder, and even comes out quicker despite Oliveria fighting in higher weight class.

This may be a fight that we've seen before; the Ortega vs Volkanovski fight, except that Oliveira manages to surprise Volk by edging out in the striking department.

Unlike the Ortega fight, if Olivera ends up getting an arm triangle or a guillotine in there, Volk isn't going to muscle out of it unlike that Ortega fight because technique aside, Ortega isn't as physically imposing.

Oliveria by round 3, the exact same moment where Ortega got Volk in that guillotine choke.
