Not to fill this BD with Prince solos but this one popped into my head and I've always appreciated it. First time I saw it I couldn't believe Prince stole the show with that many heavy hitters on stage

What an incredible performance. I've watched that video probably 100 times. You can see Tom Petty and Jeff Lynne giving Prince looks, wanting him to bring it back around but he's not having it :D And then you see Dhani Harrison smiling ear to ear loving every minute of it.

Nice. Whipping Post became such a popular live song that people would request it at Allman Bros concerts. Some funny guys took it further and would request it at every show from every band they saw. The legend goes that some bands had to delete their loud requests from concert albums. Imagine you're listening to a live Bob Seger or Humble Pie record and these Cheech & Chong type stoners keep yelling for "Whiiiippppiiing Poooooost!"

Same is true for free bird.
Saw Chris Cornell acoustic -somebody yells freebird. Cornell says every city some guy yells freebird, each one thinking he’s doing something unique.
