Agree, here. I mean, this is a guy who got a proper build-up from the company...he wasn't thrown into the fire right away, and that's absolutely fine. But that Diaz fight was a gimme matchup, against one of the top stars, and he didn't fucking make weight, and fought Holland instead.

And then to claim that you get a harder path based on your country of origin...it may be true in some cases, but it's definitely not true in his case.

The reality is, I really want to stay hyped up with Khamzat, but the set of circumstances surrounding his UFC career thus far makes it difficult...long layoffs, lots of talk but not a lot of actual fights, weight misses, sudden changes of opponents, competing in two weight classes, but fighting a top WW at MW as his first true test at 185...

A clear win against a top MW is the only way to clear up all this ambiguity.

There's definitely a fan bias against russians. No questions there. I don't think there's as much of one as Chimaev is claiming from the promotion though where they have a tangible market these fighters are in demand for that generates huge revenue for them. Chimaev has just made his own case difficult because he renounced his swedish citizenship and rooted himself in with Kardyrov. Now he can really only be booked in the UAE due to not likely to be approved for a work visa anywhere. So as much as that market still loves to see Khamzat, it really limits him to not being able to be booked anywhere else throughout the year where there's only a few shows there every year.
