Contender Series fighters Vs Non contender series fighters

Just some random stats I've run using tapology because I'm extremely fucking bored at work today. I decided to see who wins most out of contender series fighters and fighters signed during the timescale that aren't contenders series fighters.

For the purposes of this thread contender series fighters are anyone who fought on the show prior to signing with the UFC. Non contender series fighters are defined as fighters who didn't appear on the contender series and made their UFC debuts after the first contender series show.

Below is the longlist of matches used together with a running store, I'll try and keep it up to date. Below ST is short for Standard (ie the old UFC method of signing fighters) and CS is obviously short for Contender Series.

Covid permitting UFC 256 has Roberson Vs Dalcha and Spivak Vs Vanderaa which will qualify to add to the stats.

I still think DWCS is bringing too much crappy fighters and the UFC is losing overall quality in their roster but that is not exclusive to DWCS. They have been signing pretty weak guys, cutting good ones and keeping bad ones.

I think the level gap between the UFC and the rest have been decreasing quite a bit.

Interesting analysis.

People hate on Contender Series, but there's been a ton of good talent added to the roster from it. They're basically guys who were close to UFC contracts anyways, but then had to go an extra step to prove they deserved it with a big Contender Series W. Makes sense that they're having decent success in the UFC. People think that just because there hasn't been a champ from there yet, that means all of the fighters from DWCS suck.

Bellator does way less events than the UFC, though. I kind of hoped the UFC would do a bit less events and have more value on their cards than just regional dudes trying to kill each other for a 12k.

Interesting for sure, I am one of the ones who shits on the UFC the most for filling up their card with regional dudes from the DWCS but stats show that DWCS guys are doing a good job. Maybe this is what the UFC is seeing and the reason why they are pushing the DWCS more lately.

Yeah.. but there are limits.

The last card was terrible. Only 3 ranked guys and one of those was OSP. The one before that (Smith vs Clark) was even worse.

At this point I'm way more excited by Bellator events than 70% of UFC cards.

At least UFC matches guys up who are mostly equal competitively. If you want to go watch prospects in squash matches and rejects from the UFC instead, nobody is stopping you.
